“Unfriendly At Best”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

There is no dispute that the kitchen puts out pretty good food most of the time. The problem here is the lack of any kind of customer service. Nothing like entering a restaurant and being waved to a table. No hello, no smile, just a curt signal to sit and a menu thrust at you. Within two seconds the waitress was on us to place an order. We asked for tea and with a frown she got it, poured it and stood at the ready for our order. Not being ready to order a scowl formed on her face and she muttered something and walked away. This was early in the evening and the place was pretty empty so there was no need for the usual rush. The entire experience here is basically unpleasant. The staff is rude, unfriendly and unwilling to accommodate the slightest request. There are some very good Chinese restaurants in the area with a welcoming, friendlly staff. After many unpleasant visits here, this is our last! It's sad because the food is not bad.

“Our best Chinese food dinner in a long time”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

We two couples reviewed the extensive menu featuring Taiwanese Cuisine, recalling our favorites from last time, and asked the manager to help us with our selections as well as recommending a green vegetable. She did just that and very quickly each dish came out of the kitchen piping hot. First came the snow pea leaves in garlic, a standard dish for us, but this one was simply wonderful from first bite to last. Next came the eggplant in basil whose eggplant was thick, tender, tasty with no bitterness and not greasy; even though my wife is a superb cook, she points out that she cannot make eggplant like this. Next was the shrimp with shell Shanghai style in a delightful sauce that we ate with our fingers; the sweet tasting shrimp were gobbled up quickly. Last was the sesame chicken which also went fast. Service was attentive and both the manager and waiter checked a number of times to make sure we were happy with our choices. Of course, the set of four empty serving plates told the story. We are so happy that Michael's Noodles, in the Travilah Shopping Center, is rather near to our home. Our friends, who had to come a greater distance, were also very pleased as they have no such wonderful Chinese restaurant in their area. We have also come with our twin baby grandchildren. Michael's is great for both families and adults.
