“A stately home in an historic town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2012

We enjoyed a 3 day mid-week visit to this beautiful old B&B, which allowed us a relaxed visit the centuries-old fishing village of Smith Island, an hour tour boat ride from Crisfield; a visit to the bustling beach town of Ocean City, MD; and a day exploring the eastern shore National Park of Assateague, with its miles of wide beach and wildlife-including the famous (and numerous) wild ponies.

There are very good small restaurants near the Hayman House, including Italian and Chinese family operations. The Grant family, owners and operators of Hayman House, are knowledgable and can be relied on to point you in the right direction. Kim Grant is a fine cook and talented interior decorator-the Hayman house is remarkable for its fine furnishings of period furniture.

Breakfast at the Hayman House is excellent in preparation and selection. Kim has a sense of adventure and inventiveness in her cooking. Her son Josh, a highly accomplished pianist and singer, is beginning the restoration of the baby grand piano in the parlor. We hope to be there when he plays it again.

There are numerous B&Bs in this rural part of the eastern shore, but none is more well furnished or comfortable. A visit to Hayman House will be remembered as a relaxing visit to an historic small town.

Room Tip: All rooms are very nice-this B&B is situated on a corner lot in the very quiet downtown of Princ...

We had a great getaway weekend at the Hayman House. The Grants made our stay so relaxing plus started our day with a great breakfast after a good nights sleep in the period bedroom. We especially liked the rockers on the large front porch. Having found that special place and we will be back.

We were looking for the perfect place to stay midway between the cape may ferry and Virginia beach...and found it!! Kim and Josh could not have been more welcoming, kind and knowledgable. They have created something very special at the Hayman House and the town of Princess Ann is a perfect match. With it's brick sidewalks, beautiful historic homes being restored and ideal Main Street you can feel the warmth and civic pride of this historic town. We can't wait to be back to The Hayman House!!!

The Hayman House was perfect for our "last minute" road trip to Princess Anne on June 8th attend a conference at the University of MD Eastern Shore (UMES). We decided the day before to spend the night in Princess Anne and do some sightseeing. Innkeeper Josh graciously invited us to the inn despite our short notice. The Hayman House Grand Opening was not scheduled until the following weekend, but everything appeared ready for guests. It was the perfect place to stay at a very reasonable price. Convenient to Historic Princess Anne and UMES. Crisfield and Salisbury are a short drive away. The house is very well kept with beautiful furnishings, comfortable rooms, fresh flowers in the entry and even vintage music playing on the music box. When we returned to the inn late in the evening Josh had wine and desserts ready for us in the dining room. In the morning - after we enjoyed a great nights sleep in the Emery Room - Josh had a delicious breakfast casserole, yummy scones, fresh fruit and coffee ready for us to eat before we had to be on our way. We hope to come back soon for another stay at this lovely B&B!

My wife and I came here for a relaxing weekend getaway and we could not be more pleased. The house had stunning woodwork and a comfortable ambiance. Speaking of comfortable, the room was so nice and the bed amazingly comfortable. We slept great and woke up to fresh coffee and a delicious breakfast. The owners were very friendly, accommodating and informative. I highly recommend the Hayman House to anyone. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I stayed here during our mini honeymoon. The owners Josh, Kim, and Bill Grant were incredibly gracious and more then accommodating. The historic Hayman House and its quaint atmosphere took us completely by surprise. It was like stepping back in time to a quainter era in Americas past. Home cooked meals, soft beds, and the opportunity to get away from it all and just relax. Will definitely stay here again.

The whole place is just stunning from the moment you walk through the door. Josh and Kim were the very essence of southern hospitality. My husband and I had been looking for a quiet b&b to stay at and after a lot of looking found the hayman house. Everything was perfect! Our room was stunning and we were able to get a good rest and a early start with a hot shower and great coffee. Kim made us a fantastic southern type meal and blueberry scones. The place isn't far from ocean city and lots of other things to do. It doesnt matter what age you are this is a great place to stay! I recommend The Hayman House to everyone and plan on coming back with more of my friends and family for the festivities during the holidsys. Nothing like a small town america to make you feel good.
