We loved the ambiance. Sitting outside on a beautiful Spring evening (6PM) near a small pond and waterfall. When it got a little chilly they turned on patio heaters. Our service was excellent and quick. We didn't wait long for any of our dishes. The waiter did a great job of suggesting a very good wine for under $50/bottle. We both loved the food. The salad (butter lettuce, quinoa, kale chickpeas etc with a lime vinaigrette) was perfect. So, were the salmon and red snapper main dishes. We also shared the chocolate bomb for dessert. Was it expensive? Yes.$150 total. But, that includes a bottle of wine and tip. So, for a higher end restaurant it was reasonable. If I wanted cheap I'd go to Baja Fresh or Chipotle.

So, For a special dinner this is a great place. For a regular weekly trip out might be a bit expensive.

We reserved a table for Mothers Day dinner when OAI served only a fixed price meal: $81 for 3 courses: appetizer, main course and dessert. The unique wooded setting apparently creates so much demand for outdoor dining on Mothers Day that they can charge significantly more than the normal menu prices. Dinner might normally cost between $60 and $75, so at a fixed price of $81, expectations run high. One drink brought the price to almost $100 per person before tip. Sadly, the quality of the food quality just wasn't up to that standard. We were all satisfied with the raw oysters and foie gras appetizers. However, the chef's decision to pair the foie gras with strawberry-rhubarb-walnut compote was not a good one. The flavors didn't mesh and the compote lacked the necessary acidity to offset the rich fatty foie gras. A lamb sirloin entre was served medium rare as requested but was so overly salted and tenderized that there was little lamb flavor. The lamb sat on a bed of grains and vegetable that looked pretty but fell short on taste. Small tarts served for dessert had crusts that tasted like they had recently been defrosted from the grocery store freezer case. On the other hand, a member of our party who ordered the halibut was perfectly happy. Overall, the food was neither remarkable or memorable. The chef is clearly trying to be creative, but in our case, he missed the mark substantially. A special occasion and special location deserve special food. This just wasn't it. At these "special" prices that just isn't good enough.

May 2014. Always wanted to stop and check It out. Bad idea, Server saw us after about 10 mins. Limited menu, waited for 20 plus mins for 1st appetizer. Small portion, asked for lemon's for ice water served in plastic cups, never got them, went and got them myself, as well a silverware, salt and pepper etc. My 7 dollar salad came. Tasteless iceberg, thousand island dressing, and I think they were mushrooms. Plain, other order was wrong. Waitress never came back to our table once to check on us. Seemed chaotic, wait staff running around everywhere, but no organization. Doubt we will be back. Nice setting however, oh and are dogs allowed to sit in public outdoor eating areas? Everyone seemed to have a dog.

On the patio this is a lovely lovely setting in spring and summer, so lovely that when you're there you ignore the deficiencies. I still go back when I have money to burn and it's a lovely day.

It's very expensive and yet scruffy on the inside. The path to the bathrooms and the bathrooms aren't kept to the level of the high prices.

To summarize:
Service staff excellent.
Exterior beautiful.
Interior cozy yet scruffy.
Food and serviceware
out on patio.

At this price point I don't understand why they never fix their practical problems.

There is nothing more delightful than eating outside on the large, tree-shaded patio or inside by the fire on the first floor, but the exorbitant prices prevent one from enjoying this more than once in a blue moon.
