I came across a neat campground on the internet and decided to give it a try. At first I thought it was a neat little hideaway. By the time I left the cops were by twice, drunks were stumbling around the windows at night, it was noise at all hours. The owners ought get a new manager and close down the little trailer park. The place is red neck party town. Its to bad because it would make a nice summer camp it they just had some rules. Some skiiny guy with a couple of teeth works there kept suggesting I give him a tip. What kind of campground gets tips??

My husband, teenaged son & I just returned from a 3 nite stay in Cottage#1 which I choose for it's location, size and affordable price for a place on the beach. It was comfortable, relatively clean and all appliances (while slightly older & used) worked just fine and had plenty of hot water. My husband & son enjoyed the surf fishing and all 3 of us enjoyed relaxing on the beach and the beautiful view. The clothes line came in rather handy! The thing to keep in mind is that this is not an exclusive hotel resort but a campground!! If you don't like camping you may not enjoy you're visit, so go find the local Holiday Inn. Otherwise it's a great place and we plan to go again.

I looked at a ton of different places for us to go on a family vacation that wouldn't break the piggy bank. My husband was very skiddish, cause we've stayed in dumps before, but the one took the cake. Upon arriving we saw rusted junk strewn about & trash lying everywhere. I thought okay, maybe looks are decieving. Yeah not in this case. We got there and the lady wanted the rest of the money we owed for the cabin, before we even saw it. We paid for it and she didn't even give us the key. I had to go back and ask for the key. Once at our cabin, which was the Minnow or #8 there was a pepsi bottle with what appeared to pee in it, right in front of our steps up to the door. Once entering, there was an odor. We looked around and it was disgusting. The floor was sticky, there were ant traps on the counters. The microwave hadn't been moved in ages, cause there was your neighborhood spider that had made a home there, also a ton of dust and dirt collected behind it. The coffee pot and machine was filthy. There was blood on the wall next to the "coat" closet. The bathroom was filthy. The mat hadn't been lifted in what looked like forever. Oout on the back patio was a wasps nest and my husband asked them to take care of it. One lady told him that they sold bee spray, but there was a guy who offered to take care of it. He came out with a pool stick and smacked it away, however they came back to build thier nest. There were broken beer bottles everywhere, trach laying around, rusty nails. While there were a few of the staff members who were very friendly, it's not worth comprimising my childrens health or mine. Unless you like being in trash, hanging around trash or are trash, DO NOT STAY HERE!

We booked our trip to Camp Merryelande in January for a group of 16. We decided to go there for a weekend getaway and wanted something not too expensive for our large group. We stayed in the Blue Crab, which was one of the bigger cottages they offer. After we booked and paid for our trip, I went and started reading some reviews and was terrified to go! I thought it was going to be a horrible experience, but it turned out GREAT. Everyone I was with loved it and we will be going back next year! The only thing is the cottage is a little out of date, but for the price we paid we really didn't expect anything different. The beach wasn't crowded and the staff was very helpful and nice. WE LOVED IT!

I wasn't sure what to expect when we pulled up to camp merrylande, but I didn't need to worry one bit. Mr Bill met us at our car, helped load our things and took us right to the door of our tent, that was already set up! The tent was fabulous, we each had our own "bed", a very comfy and clean air mattress, there was a table, plenty of chairs and a lantern. The tents are set up right on the beach where you are lulled to sleep at night to the sound of the ocean. My children woke up in the morning, ate a great breakfast, prepared right there by Ms Pat and then went and played in the water for hours. There was a neverending pot of coffee ready every morning for us older folks.
By itself Valet camping is great, but Ms Pat and Mr Bill make this place absolutly WONDERFUL. From the moment you arrive til the minute you leave they both go out of their way to make you feel welcome and ensure you have everything you need... and without paying an arm and a leg.
What else can I say, clean porta potties within view of your tent, and indoor bathroom with hot water about a very short walk away, great food, a movie for the kids, slideshows, clean beach, fishing and sailing. If you are looking for a great place to spend time with your friends and family, this is it. This was the best vacation my family ever took. I can't wait to go back!

Little did we know before camping here that the camp is divided into 2 sections. Regular camping & vallet camping. We reserved a site in the regular camping area. BIG MISTAKE!!
Upon arriving we saw construction (that was ok since they are attempting to make it a better place), condemed campers everywhere, cabins that looked like a scene from Friday the 13th, porta potties, a broken up "playground" and tons of junk. The beach was ok once you got past the trash everywhere. No trash cans in sight.
During the day the camp site was bearable, kids has tons of fun in the water. But a night things changed. There isn't anyone around to regulate "quite time" so people can play music, drink & do what ever they want as late as they want.
Also, there isn't anyone at the gate at night. Which means that from 10pm - 7am people come & go as they please. Setting up camp for the night to fish into the early hours. Dragging boats and coolers thru your camp site anytime of day or night.

On Saturday with no sleep we made our way to the bath house (which was new) and meet Bill. Bill & Pat run the vallet camping area which is seperate from the regular camping area. You go past the bath house & thru a small trail, over a lighted bridge & into paradise!! Tents set up onthe beach, no trash, Pat welcomes you with a huge smile & the smell of breakfast cooking. Bill takes pictures of his guests throughout the week & plays a slideshow for everyone on Saturday nights just before the movie they play for the young children.

Bill & Pat have their own section of the website, please visit the vallet camping link thru the Camp Merryeland web site & see what a wonder section of camp ground that is available. But whatever you do, DO NOT go camping in the regular camp sites. We ended up leaving early, just couldn't take it.
