I've stayed here a few times and have always enjoyed being right on the beach. Having fires isn't a problem and there's a decent amount if stuff to do, kayaking, sailing, fishing, etc. The views are gorgeous, the camp ground is fairly well kept. The RV area isn't quite as attractive and clean. It's a wonderful concept, but you use some updating here and there. I'd go back with adult friends.

Got to stay in the big house with all the upstairs and down stairs bedrooms.. I liked how it was three of us couples staying there and still had more rooms for people to stay! And I loved the fire place by the dining room table in front of the windows! If you didnt like here then you are to hi class to be camping in the first place! Will come back when Im back in Maryland for sure!

Well; at first I have to say that our weekend stay was going to be one for the Do Not Return list. Under the first impression we were shocked by the amount of construction happening on the grounds and in/on/ and around the cottages. Once we checked in we learned that many of the eyesores were due to the many upgrades going on in the so called off season. There were many people out and about by the pier and the volleyball court who all seemed happy to just be there. We hadn't encountered too many of the workers in our travels around the beaches and the pond. While exploring we did however encounter a family of deer (something our kids had never had the chance to experience before). Seclusion was only a short walk away near the "concierge" beach that is apparently undergoing maintenance. (After reading the reviews below, the repairs and new management seem overdue). We had a nice and relaxing weekend and will be returning for the concierge camping this summer in hopes to see more wildlife and for some memories and pictures for the photo album,. We have definitely been to worse!

Room Tip: The rooms are more convenient than popping up a tent and using the showers. The kids LOVED cooking o...

Mold in bathroom.. Broken sliding doors.. Cats everywhere and urine. Price was ok for some AC! The 1 guy who comes around is very friendly but the others are by and do not know what they are talking about. 1 mile up the rd is a boat dock. Picnic tables are located everywhere. Some live here year around. New camping store it appears.

We stayed at Camp Merrylande for a beach weekend while visiting family in the area. We stayed in cabin 16 which is above the store. If was clean and comfy. If you want to have sand in your toes, watch volleyball games, cook on a fire pit and meet new people, then this is for you. Everyone was friendly and down to earth. Things they could improve: noise level after midnight, and perhaps have a first aid/nurse available. Overall, we had fun and plan to return!

Room Tip: Cabin 16 had lots of stairs, but has full kitchen for cooking

When we discovered Far East Beach Concierge two year ago, we found a small paradise..a secluded slice of sand and waves. Fast forward to 2012 and a "change in management", (we really miss Jocelyn), and Far East Beach ,(now Camp Merrylande), has become paradise lost.

We stalked the website for months, called phone numbers, and even contemplated trying to find alternative beach camping in the area, until we were finally able to reach a live person in the late spring of 2012 to book our camping trip. We were so happy they were open that we booked tent sites for June and cabanas for July. Both reservations were for large groups, 12-18 people.

When we arrived, June 2nd....it was clear - management had changed. The grounds were unkempt, the service was slow to non-existent.....and the people seemed to be less than thrilled that we were even there, let alone trying to provide any kind of "concierge service.

An extremely violent storm swept through the camp the Friday (6/1) we were supposed to start or trip, which is what we attributed to the less than stellar experience we had when we arrived.

We figured our June experience was a fluke and by the time we returned in July, they would have worked out the kinks. Granted we are aware it's camping and not a 5-star hotel...but our expectations are based on prior experiences at this very camp site.

Upon our arrival on July 6th, all our hopes of that our June experience was a fluke were quickly thrown out the window.

Let's discuss details: we booked 3 of the 4 cabanas, provided Mike, (presumed new manager), with a detailed description of # of air mattresses, sizes, etc - in a pdf document ILLUSTRATION, and they still got it wrong! We showed up to filthy cabanas and half-inflated air mattresses, wrong sizes and configurations. What's worse is the attitudes about it all - like, it's somehow our fault? After we paid money, gave you the description and you got it wrong.....you have an attitude? Really?

As I said before we've been to this same site numerous times over the past two years. Never during any of those visits have I've experienced flies biting they way they did this visit. I can only speculate it was the result of the less then clean conditions and likely what almost looked like overbooking of the campground. If management would just take a little pride in the grounds, clean up the debris and overgrown grass every once in a while, this may have alleviated the fly infestation. Speaking of overgrown grass....it's ridiculous to provide the campsite with a grill...which the campers can't even use, because its been taken over by plant life.

Also if you are going to book the campgrond past capacity...you should book a cleaning service for the weekend to maintain the bathroom facilites. It's inevitable with the overcrowding and one bathroom area , toiletries would need to be replaced on a more frequent basis and that there would be an increase in bio-accidents that would need to be cleaned up, particuarly with 105 degree heat and people drinking to much. Bottom line you cant let the bathroom get that gross!

It was hot as hell - of course nothing that the campground could control. However, when you know the heat is going to reach and exceed 100 degrees during the day, it would seem that management would want to ensure that each campsite had ice, regularly check on their guests, and be available. On the contrary, they ran out of ice, so we had to leave the campsite to find some for ourselves, we barely saw these people, and when we did, they acted annoyed.

New toilets were intalled, but the doors didn't lock. New outdoor showers as well, but the smell of fish was too overwhelming to even stand to be in that area. And, the "concierge" portion of this experience was basically non-existent. In fact, we were told that the main concierge Brent, "overslept" so we should not expect any morning coffee or continental breakfast. Very different from the previous management, who somehow even with several small kids, were able to check on their guests regularly, supply ice, firewood, and even steamed crabs! They were also able to fix coffee and provide a few fruits and muffins in the mornings. I'm not sure what is going on with these new people....but they seem to be so unorganized, so uninterested, and basically sloppy!

So here's my thing. If I pay money for a service, I expect to get it. I think the biggest insult was reading the notes posted all over the campsite, urging guests to tip the staff. Really? And yes, we did.($20+)..and it didn't help.

As much as we used to love this place ...we won't be back.

We were very lucky to not get hurt or lose any of our stuff. Brent the camp concierge did us and the other campers a huge service by getting us to displace from our tents to a hard site during the most severe early moments of the storm. Several tents and a lot of gear was simply blown completely away.
The campground itself is undergoing a lot of various renovations; some food some not so good. There are huge nice cabins and areas for camper like camping. The beach concierge camp sites are still very rudimentary in nature and you need to bring a lot of gear to be comfortable. The infrastructure ie showers , bathrooms and basically everything like that needs serious attention and in some cases just needs to be removed. Lots of jelly fish in the water as well.
