Big upgrade to linens since our last stay at the Pikesville Hilton almost 6 years ago!! Very comfortable bed, lovely bedding and big fluffy towels - and the HVAC worked fine - just a little on the noisy side.
Location is just off the beltway - most convenient for funeral and family in Pikesville.

This Hilton is connected with the Baltimore Fitness and Tennis facility. Just ask for a free guest pass and use over a dozen treadmills, 5 or 6 bikes plus the cross country things. This is a real fitness center including the machines At least a dozen and loads of free weights. The pool was not open during our February stay but it looks like it too is part of the fitness club and it is huge!
The hotel is recently renovated. As you walked in the marble foyer the sitting area in, front of a burning fireplace, was very inviting although not huge. Our entire posted requests were taken care of before our arrival. Our south facing room provided a view of the pool and was reasonably quiet except for the fire trucks and ambulances through the night. The other side of the building faces the Baltimore belt (695) and I was happy not to be on that side. The room was clean and had everything you would need; by not staying in Baltimore proper you save $25 - $32 per night in hotel parking fees. The restaurant is quite nice (white linens and nicely decorated). The bar area is also well appointed, three TVs and lots of tables in addition to seats at the bar.
The best part of the entire experience was the courtesy and efficiency of the staff. Every single person worked to make our stay perfect. All questions were answered by who ever you spoke with and they seemed to know the area and there jobs well. Thank You!
The short coming, you can’t make a renovated room larger. The bedroom area was fine, desk, TV, night stand, King Bed; but the bathroom was strictly for one person at a time. Bottom line, would I recommend it, Definitely, yes.

Room Tip: I always ask for the highest room available, not near vending or the elevators. We need pillows without feathers. South side of this hotel has a sunny view rooms at the end of the hallway are either near the steps or elevator and vending.

Stayed late for new years eve since we were at a party in Towson. Easy to get to from 695. Tiffany checked us in. Hilton old file says high floor away from elevator. We get keys and had to ask for our breakfast coupons. She was nice and did it quickly. We step off elevator and we were facing our room door. We had to go back and our room was moved down the hall. The room was good enough. The breakfast was a la carte and took forever! We waited fifteen minutes and not even a glass of water. There were only four people at one table besides us. It took over thirty minutes to get served a meal. Funny since my two items had no cooking involved. That is except my bagel which they forgot and I ordered salmon and a bagel. There were a lot of staff in the restaurant but none of them were helping the waitress until we complained. They really dropped the ball. Asked for a late check outandthy gave us 1p. Don't think I would stay again in general though.

Room Tip: Make sure higher floor and not facing highway street if possible.o

HiltonPikesville, Front Office Manager at DoubleTree by Hilton Baltimore North - Pikesville, responded to this reviewResponded January 12, 2012

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our hotel, and leaving such kind comments about our overnight staff!

There were a few negative issues that you brought up, that I'd like to respond to. In the Hilton Honors Program, there is a chance to get either 1,000 bonus HHonors Points, or complimentary breakfast. Your account was set at the time for points; this is why breakfast coupons weren't in your packet for you. Thankfully, you brought the error to our attention and we changed your profile so that you got breakfast. Additionally, I'm glad that we were able to find a room that better accommodated your requests. Our check out time is 12PM, so you were offered a later checkout than usual. If, in the future, you'd like more time, please let us know and we will do everything to accommodate your request.

Regarding the slow service in the restaurant, we do humbly apologize for that. We have some new management in the restaurant. There is no excuse for the poor service you had, but we are actively working so that the speed is consistent with your expectations. I firmly believe if you were to come back and give us another opportunity to impress you with our service, you'd be very pleased.

Should you decide to give us another opportunity to impress you with our service, please call us and let us know that you are coming. Please feel free to ask for the Front Office Manager, and I will personally ensure that every aspect of your next stay meets with your expectations.

This Hilton is very nice...newer...nice lobby area, too, The rooms were large, but the bathroom was a bit disappointing. We had drinks in the bar...there was a wedding there that night, and the bar service was terribly slow. We had brunch there the next AM, and it was good, but a little overpriced for what it was. We went to dinner in the Inner Harbor, whihc was easily 30 minutes away with Saturday PM traffic...for fun, I'd stay closer to downtown that this location. Just a note... someone else in our group stayed the Howard Johnson down the road and said it was downright SCARY! I felt very safe at this hotel, which is a plus...

Room Tip: ask for one away from the elevator bank
