A wonderful place for a getaway. The views or the river from the large lawn are spectacular - especially the sunsets. Oxford is a quaint Eastern shore town with several shops and restaurants. The entire Easton/Oxford/St. Michaels is full of anything you might want to do. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and there are snacks and beverages available 24hours a day. Be sure and take the ferry across the river during your stay as well. We really enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your kind words. That is wonderful you really enjoyed your stay and could get away from it all! The car ferry is very popular for our guests to take when they want to visit St. Michaels, Maryland. We hope you all can return next year.

Safe travels,

We have been visiting the Sandaway waterfront B & B for years. Great location in a beautiful quiet neighborhood. There are many good little restaurants in Oxford and nearby St Michels. Oxford is about an eight mile ride from Easton, only one way in and one way out unless you take the ferry.

Enjoy.

Room Tip: We try to stay in the main building.

As they say location , location & location. Oxford -A quiet little town but convenient to other locations via ferry. Sandaway B& B has a diverse range of rooms, beautiful grassy front yard looking out over the water filled w/ crabbing boats & sailboats. A nice getway, wine, book & shore snack and you got it .

We're in the middle of a move, with lots (too much!) to do at both houses. We went to Sandaway for a mid-week anniversary getaway, and it was perfect. Nothing to do but relax, enjoy beautiful views, have some delicious dinners and meet nice people. Our hosts were great, our room was lovely and Oxford was just right for our stay. We returned to Northern Virginia via the ferry and St. Michaels, which made us even more appreciative of the charm of Sandaway and Oxford!

My friend and I enjoyed a couple of nights here at this quaint B & B along the bay. We loved sitting on the shore, comfortable lounge chairs were provided and the scenery and fresh breeze were free. Good restaurants nearby and even a ferry to take you to the other side of the bay. A nice basket of fruit, Danish and coffee are provided in the morning. Most of the rooms had screened in porches looking out on the bay. Great place for getting away from it all.

Room Tip: Ask or a room with a view.

We spent three nights (August 28-29-30) at the Sandaway Waterfront Lodging in Oxford, MD (King bed, Room 109, first floor). This is a large room/suite, with a large comfortable couch and two upholstered chairs and a private, attached, screened-in porch with couch, 3 tables and two wicker rockers overlooking the beautiful Tred Avon River. The bathroom layout is really nice: two separate sinks (plenty of room to put one's bathroom toiletries and hang towels), a great glassed-in shower with tile seat, and a separate clawfoot tub. The room is attractively furnished, and the bed is quite comfortable (albeit a bit high off the ground -- we are both short-statured people in our 60's).

This is the perfect getaway if what you want is peace and quiet in a beautiful setting. It's the kind of place where you can sit on your porch or out on the lawn by the water, read a good book or chat, and enjoy a glass of wine. There is not much of a "beach" -- it is more seashells & stones than sand, really, but, then, this isn't a beach resort. There is plenty of shade on the sloping lawn, as well as sun (for those who want sun).

The pluses? Well, the staff and the folks in town are incredibly friendly and helpful. That includes everyone from the management to the housekeeping staff. There is lots of privacy and quiet. While the town of Oxford is tiny, there are some decent restaurants (Salters Tavern at the Robert Morris Inn is a 2-minute walk away). We also ate at Pope's Tavern and at Schooners, and we paid the Scottish Highland Creamery three separate visits for ice cream. (They add new flavors daily and their ice cream irresistible!)

Oxford has a small museum in town that is a bit of gem and an obvious labor of love for those who run it and support it. Oxford is also a very walkable, historic town and has lots of beautiful vistas along the water and some very interesting old houses and gardens, including a large public park with benches along the waterfront.

We took the Oxford-Bellevue Ferry twice: once as pedestrians, where we just did a round trip, and again, when we left and took the car on it to drive to St. Michaels, MD for lunch before heading home.

Since we were there on Friday night, we got to see the 1.5 hour sailboat races, beginning at 6 pm. You get a great view of them from the Sandaway waterfront as well as from a spacious public park with benches a few blocks away!

Drawbacks? I can't imagine bringing children here -- there is very little for them at the resort or in the town. The food at the local restaurants is good, but it is not gourmet eating. For that, you'll need to go to St. Michaels. But there is good seafood to be had. As other reviewers have noted, the Sandaway's continental breakfast (delivered in an attractive basket) is heavy on the carbs though it always included some yogurt. But we knew that in advance, ate what we wanted from it, and filled up with lunch and dinner. In any case, it was fun to get the basket each morning. (By the way, there is a small grocery/deli in town -- we brought sandwiches back and had them on our porch.) Finally, although I wouldn't call this a drawback, our room did not have a TV. (If the room description on the Sandaway website doesn't mention TV, then assume that the room is without it.) We did bring an iPad, however, and had no problem connecting with their WiFi.

In short, this is the kind of place we'll return to. Peaceful, civilized, tastefully decorated and landscaped with lots of privacy and located in a classic Eastern Shore town.

We really appreciate your detailed review of Sandaway. It is a great resource for our future guests. I am glad you had a nice stay in a Deluxe Waterfront room with private porch. You certainly got to experience a lot of what Oxford and St. Michaels, Maryland have to offer. Next time you might like to try a Suite with cable TV and free WiFi. We hope to see you both again for another long weekend on the Eastern Shore!

My boyfriend and I stayed here during July 4th weekday getaway. We received a nice greeting and information that we needed along with a few recommendations for dinner and for the surrounding area. Fireworks were held on Thurs night. It was great to see guests seated in anticipation on the lawn in the Adirondack chairs, which were very popular. Our stay included two nights in the Beach Loft View Suite and we had the entire floor to ourselves. The living room was nice with windows overlooking the lawn and the beach. The bedroom was comfortable. Although the bathroom was on the outside of the suite, it didn't matter too much since the 3rd floor was private for us. Our suite also included our own screened porch on the first floor. The breakfast basket was perfect for our needs with all the little essentials to start our day. This property is beautiful, relaxing, and peaceful. It's also within walking distance of the car ferry and restaurants. A nice stay in a quaint town. We would love to stay here again. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: If you want privacy, request the Beach Loft View Suite. It faces the beautiful beach and you have th...
