“Great get away.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2013

The Inn dates to early 1700 and is a quaint building with floors sloping any way and few square door frames. The tavern/dining room has a very inviting ambiance with wood paneling and great brick fireplaces. From what we saw each room is unique. A very pleasant stay while enjoying the area.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 3rd floor have king beds while the second seems to be queen or double beds.

Many thanks for reviewing our Inn following your visit and we are delighted that you enjoyed your experience with us. The Inn is so unique at over 300 years old a little messed around with. We are so keen to maintian its sense of history and charm and we are so lucky to be guardians of this amazing piece of American history. We look forward to your return visit.

We have been returning to the Robert Morris Inn every January (for the last 3 years) to meet up with friends in a cozy, comfortable, relaxing, historical atmosphere! Janet, the manager, is not only extremely pleasant and authentic, but goes out of her way to make sure our needs are met. She made us feel as if we were the only guests (we were not,by any means!). We have stayed in 3 different rooms--all well-equipped and surprisingly spacious (keep in mind this is the oldest inn in the US). Yes, the floors are a bit creaky and uneven, but (we feel) this adds to the historical significance! Service in the bar and restaurant is exemplary--not pushy but solicitous. Dinner was exquisite--definitely comparable to the best of DC's finest. The lobster appetizer was...incredible. (The chef has earned his stellar reputation and was kind enough to come out of the kitchen and have a chat with all at the end of the evening). We hope to be able to secure a room in the spring or fall!

My wife and I and another couple spent a wonderful two days at the Robert Morris Inn in Oxford, MD. We each purchased a deal on Living Social. The Inn is old (1710) and quaint, but still comfortable. We were in a two unit cottage in back of the inn, which was warm and cozy and overlooking the water. While the Inn was pleasant and the staff friendly and helpful, the food was spectacular. Chef Salter has put together a relatively small menu, but excellent choices of meat, fish, or fowl. The breakfasts, that came with the Living Social package, were tasty and substantial, especially the Eggs Benedict over the Inn's signature crab cake. Nearby St. Michael and its nautical museum added to an especially wonderful two day stay at the Inn.

Room Tip: We and our friends spent our two nights in the two unit cottage in back of the Inn known as Bottle 1...

Many thanks for your kind review and generous comments. Delighted you enjoyed your stay and found the food beyond expectation. This is a great historic building in a small quant and peaceful town and the proximity to St Michaels and Easton is a bonus. In season there is nothing better than a ferry ride across the Tred Avon to visit St Michaels returning to the peace of Oxford and The Inn at night.

Had a great time in Oxford at the Robert Morris Inn. The room was a nice size and had a lovely view of the water. We stayed in one of the rooms outside the main building. The decor in the room was in some serious need of updating and the rug just needs to be removed. It initially smelled like animals so we opened the window and that helped. It was a pet friendly room and we did have our dog- so felt like I couldn't really complain. Other then that the place was great. All the staff were lovely and friendly and helpful. Also Mark- the chef at the restaurant was fabulous. Being vegetarian and vegan, he went out of his way to talk to us about our dietary needs and preferences and then for the 2 days we were there created amazing meals for us for breakfast and dinner. Would definatly recommend staying here, and perhaps stay in the main building. But no TV in those rooms and we did have a TV in the outside room- so something to consider.

It was a great pleasure to look after you both and you little companion. There are certain rooms we do use for pets and whilst we do carry out a deep clean after I guess it is possible a smell could remain. Delighted you enjoyed the vegetarian dishes I came up with and some of those will continue to feature on this Winters menus.
We look forward to seeing you again.

Just attended Chef Mark Salter's 29 Dec cooking demonstration of: Potato Soup with poached Lobster, Crème Fraiche and Chives; Christmas Turkey My Way: Grilled marinated Turkey, Scallopini Sage, Apricot and Celery Stuffing, caramelized Brussel Sprouts, Cranberry Ginger Relish and Gravy; and his award-winning Sweet Potato Pie with Pecan Streusel Topping. Again, Mark's receipts and cooking are "Ausgezeichnet"--must be that Baden-Baden influence. When the team at the Inn comes out with the 2013 cooking demonstration schedule you must pick at least one and attend--demonstrations, meals and atmosphere you cannot beat. Thanks to you Mark and rest of the Inn's staff for such an enjoyable event!

I love doing these Cookery Demonstrations as there is so much fabulous produce on our doorstep here. I have just finished my Winter Series going from February through to May and those will be going out to the regulars and you before released to everyone. Thank you again and if you feel they could be improved any just let me know.

The original part of this charming inn was built in 1710. There are open wood burning fire places and timber beams. The rooms are nice but a little odd. What do you expect from a building that is 300 years old?? If you don't stay here, stop for a drink at the cozy little bar area. Overall I would recommend this establishment for the historic value alone. It sits right across the street from the Oxford-Bellevue Ferry, the oldest and longest running ferry service in the United States. Robert Morris was one of the financiers of the Revolution and friend to George Washington. Oxford in general is a lovely little town.

We are fortunate to be guardians of this historic iconic gem on the eastern shore. Over 300 years old yet still warm and inviting, we are reluctant to change too much. We look forward to your return to Oxford. Mark & Ian

All I can say is...STAY HERE.

Charming hotel in a very cozy location. One is not coming here for a alot of activities. It is really a small area to relax and enjoy the other's company you have with you. And we did.

Good location(ferry is near-by), easy check-in, clean and cute rooms, food was memorable, service attentive, but not obtrusive and the cherry brandies with lemon...well, to die for!

We would gladly stay here again for a couple nights and we think you will enjoy it as much as we did. VERY nice.
