We picked the Sahara Motel (Tower Building) after reading the tripadvisor reviews.
Like many of the other reviewers, we enjoyed our stay. It's nothing fancy, but neither are we.

We were able to check in at 10:30am which was a major plus! The staff and housekeepers were friendly and people that stayed at this hotel were like us * families, trying not to spend a fortune by going to the beach, so we really enjoyed it. The location was close and it was nice being up by the boardwalk area. Would stay here again & recommend to other people.

Room Tip: 4th floor, poolside, tower building =)

My husband and I have stayed here with various family members and friends for many years. It is affordable and clean and a great location. We have stayed in the tower and ocean front/view rooms- like them all. Cafe has great breakfast! This place is one of the few affordable motels still left on the boardwalk. Hope it stays that way! Say "Hi" to Carole the housekeeper, she was great!

We stayed in the tower building. The room was neat and clean upon arrival, and the A/C unit was freezing cold. We had to turn it off at times because it was that cold.I would rather it be too cold, than too hot though. The room served it's purpose. A place to shower and rest. The pool was nice and clean to. There was a smell to the room, but it wasn't that much of an issue. Our housekeeper Carol was the best!! She gave us directions and answered any questions I had about OC MD. It was a while since I had been there. It was just a few short steps from the beach, and there was fresh water to rinse off after you were finished. The cafe was very good. The service and food was great. I would rather pay less for the room, and shop more. The only problem I had were the wifi. I would have loved to surf the net in the evenings after a long day. I could not get a connection for any length of time. I couldn't get online. I am thinking about booking this place for next summer, and trying an ocean front room.

We stayed in the off-boardwalk building to save some money. This is a great value. Prices are well below many of the other hotels in Ocean City in season, and the place was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly, and we enjoyed our stay. We come for the beach attractions and don't need a 5 star hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Stay on the boardwalk for the view. Stay in the other buildings for some savings.

Listen...do you go to the beach for the hotel? If you do...book the Hilton...but if you just want a clean bed and a shower, book the Sahara. My husband & I have stayed here twice now (2nd floor in the oceanfront buliding). The rooms are average with small bathroom, service is friendly , cafe has great breakfast, and the prices are very reasonable. Housekeeping could do a little better, but our bed was clean & comfy, towels were fresh & clean everyday....we didn't see any bugs. If you cannot do stairs, book first floor in the ocean front building because there is no elevator. You can't beat the location or the view ! We have heard mixed opinions on the Sahara, but we have had only good experiences with them so far.
On this trip we also heard great things about The Spinnaker Hotel next door...we will try it next year...to be cont........

Room Tip: Book oceanfront if you can....

We had stayed in the Tower Building this past weekend...23-26th. The staff was very friendly and for the price, the hotel was good. We didn't see any bugs, the carpets were clean, the bathroom was clean and the room was spacious. The tower building has an elevator and the cafe is there too. The cafe was really good..we had the crab omelet and choco chip pancakes! But back to the room, it is the perfect location and we were hardly in the room since it was a block from the boardwalk. The only cons were that the beds were a bit uncomfortable, towels were rough and TV was small. But the hotel was right around the corner from Phillips Restaurant, Sunsations, CVS and the boardwalk! It's in a prime location and is a good hotel for a short stay with plans to be out and about.

This is an old hotel/motel, so you won't get any frills here. We only stayed one night, and you are at the beach, so you won't be in the room long. It was clean, but the room did have a 'armpit-like' smell when we first walked in. It may have been from the air conditioner. There was a stain on my bed sheet, but you could tell it was old and the sheets had been washed... it would be nice if they threw those out. The bathroom was clean and updated with new tiles in the shower; tub and sink a nice blue, but overall was clean. Can't complain too much for the price, and a decent location, right off the boardwalk, so we didn't have to drive. Ice machine costs 25 cents, but you can fill up a small 6pack type cooler for about 50 cents. They have a cafe, which we didn't go to, but had a long line for breakfast, so it must have been decent.
