“Cozy Inn, Crazy area”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

The Inn has everything you could want on a beach vacation, neatly packed away in a cozy, clean house. At first I was wary of the price when hotels on the boardwalk go for pretty cheap, but it is well worth the cost. The Inn provides bikes, towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, and a number of kitchen amenities--fridge, microwave, coffee, sweets at night, water, etc. Did I mention that the beach is steps away?

The best part of this place is the huge porch and deck area adjacent to the boardwalk. We and many other guests (there are only 6 guest rooms) spent our mornings and evenings sipping coffee and wine, respectively on the deck and doing some very entertaining people watching.

Breakfast is served on the deck on nice days and it will definitely exceed your expectations...we were full until late afternoon each day.

The owners were very welcoming. It was my birthday and they accommodated some very picky requests ahead of time from my mother who wanted to have treats, wine and flowers left in the room for when my boyfriend and i arrived. Vicki was very sweet and everything was set up perfectly. She also accommodated several special birthday requests by my boyfriend, including leaving plates and candles out for a late night cake feast.

The only minor downfall of this place is the noise, which is of course the cost of staying at a place close to all of the restaurants, bars and other fun things you might like to do. We drowned out the noise from the nearby "Hammerheads" at night with a fan, but the party lasts until the wee hours of the morning. The owner did make a point to request they turned down the music at one point during the day, so it did not go overlooked...there is only so much they can do. In the daytime it is not oppressive at all--I managed to enjoy several naps on the desk regardless. One last thing, we stayed in the hunt room---the bathroom was very tiny. Manageable for a two-night stay, certainly, but more much longer it would get very cramped. Other rooms have larger bathrooms so look into that.

Room Tip: The Hunt room is cozy with an ocean view but a tiny bathroom.

Thank you for your review of your most recent stay. You certainly noticed the details that we strive to provide to all of our guests.

We agree that the veranda is among our best assets.

You have given us food for thought regarding the tiny bathroom. We have tossed around several ideas including perhaps taking out a wall or two. We would welcome any suggestion that you or any of our guests who have stayed in the Hunt Room.

It was wonderful to be included in your special birthday and was our pleasure to leave the plates and candles for you to have your cake and eat it too!

Do come again and remember us for future celebrations.

We went for our wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time! The inn is right on the boardwalk and a great location. The owners and staff were super friendly and Vicki's cooking was amazing! We stayed in the Veranda room and the views were UNBELIEVABLE! I loved that each room has its own private bathroom and there were edible treats all throughout the house. The inn provided beach chairs and bikes to ride on the boardwalk, which was very convenient. I highly recommend An Inn on the Ocean!

Inn on the Ocean is Ocean City's ONLY oceanfront Bed and Breakfast, located on 10th St., and this was our first time staying there. From the time we walked in the door we were greeted with warmth and friendliness from Charlie Barrett, the Inn owner. The Inn is a 6 bedroom home with a huge porch, with white wicker rocking chairs, and two beautiful white tables and chairs where we were treated to gourmet breakfasts every morning while enjoying the early morning sun on the boardwalk. The Inn itself is tastefully decorated with antiques and charming chatchkies, and each of the 6 bedrooms is decorated with a different theme. Our room was the canopy room which speaks for itself. Pastel green walls with a white canopy bed. Each bedroom also has its own television and bathroom. There is coffee, tea, or hot chocolate available 24 hours a day, plus fresh fruit, candy, and cookies or pastries available any time in the dining room. The Inn also provides free bicycles and beach chairs, and ice cream in the freezer! One important thing........it is child free, adults only, which was a very pleasant surprise. Vicki and Charlie Barrett (the owners) will welcome you with open arms and make you feel like family while you're there and like you can't wait to return when you leave. I highly recommend the Inn On The Ocean to everyone looking for a clean, charming, quiet, grown up vacation in Ocean City.

Room Tip: The Oceanic is the only oceanfront room, but all of the rooms are beautiful, and you can't go wr...

Stayed here for a weekend. This B&B is very nice and homey. You eat breakfast every morning either in the dinning room , the living room, or the outside porch. The house is always decorated depending on the season. There is always fruit and candy sitting out for guests. Each room has its own private bathroom, and TV. The rooms are newly renovated and decorated in a classy, but comfortable atmosphere . With each stay you get a bike, a chair and an umbrella for the beach. Owner is very nice and friendly. Reconmend this to anyone. Open year round.

We were pleased with our stay at this quaint beach house. Breakfast was very good, and filling. We stayed in the off season, May, so we enjoyed the quiet, except for the noise from Harleys coming and going next door at a restaurant - meeting up apparently from a convention. Fortunately they all left early...not a big deal. We stayed in the Oceana room - with a full balcony above the boardwalk - just great. We spent time at the annual bird carving convention and saw work that was amazinging intricate and beautiful. Very nice...would like to go back sometime during September.

Room Tip: Oceana room for full beach front , with a great balcony

We recently stayed there for our 5th anniversary. We were looking for a quiet getaway where we could vegetate and not think of work. The Inn was quiet when we arrived, we walked in the front without anyone noticing but soon met up with Charlie. Perhaps a little gruff and didn't say a thing to us, but his wife Vicki was welcoming and showed us the 'B&B ropes', provided keys and gave us pointers on certain aspects of our room They have a binder of restaurant menus which is quite helpful if you're not familiar with the area. We were 1 of 2 couples in the inn both nights, although we didn't know till the next morning as the others were on the first floor.

The Oceana room was in the upper front with a good view of the boardwalk directly in front and beach beyond. Very quiet in late November, although I can imagine how noisey it would be in peak season starting early in the morning. Unfortunately some boardwalk lighting is directly across from us and despite the shades at night made the room fairly illuminated. Difficult to get back to sleep in the middle of the night and we were awakened by the light early.

Coffee was set to go at 7am in the common area living room which was good to come down to. Breakfast was at 9am, a little late for us normally although ok since we were on vacation. We were asked if there was anything we didn't care for/ couldn't have before Vicki got started on breakfast. Breakfast the 1st day was lovely although rather a lot (hard to complain about too much good food!). Fresh cut fruit followed by juice, scrambled eggs, croissants and some freshly made cranberry nut loaf which was very good. Day 2 was not my favourite - apple crisp followed by sticky bun french toast and sausage patties. Not bad persay but not healthy at all. The other older couple who were also staying both days commented on how much was served and the 2nd day the wife politely declined anything but the apple crisp in favour of more coffee.

The old house is charming - I could imagine sitting on the front porch/deck in the summer months watching the world go by for sure. Christmas decorating had commenced and looked beautiful when we were there. Freshly baked chocolate chip cookie the first evening were a nice touch when we came back from our restaurant dinner.

We didn't take advantage of the full 'B&B experience' choosing instead to relax in our room in the evening and not hanging out in the common area living room or dining room although we chatted in the mornings with the other couple.

Up side: Location on 10th St is very convenient to almost everything, charming old house, beautiful décor. Lovely view of the beach which is close at hand. Very friendly service. decent wifi, decent cable channels

Down side: A little pricey we thought ($243/night) considering is was definitely off season. No additional charges though. Location would be very busy during summer season. If you're techy at all and have devices that need charging bring an extension cord as this is an old house and most of the plugs seemed to be hidden behind furniture. Seemed a little run down in spots - wallpaper peeling, paint chipped, noticeable hole in the sheets on the bed but nothing that was the end of the world, just expected a little more for the price.

We'd recommend it to someone else as a lovely place to stay, although we probably won't go again since we feel we've been and seen what there is to see there.

Room Tip: The Oceana room in the front upstairs has a private balcony

What a georgeous place right on the boardwalk & ocean. The house is a bungalow with several rooms. Inside decor is very tasteful but definitely not stuffy. Makes one want to sit in all the seats available for reading, visiting or sipping wine or cider. Vickie, our hostess, was super. Makes guests feel as if we're old friends of hers. Eating our delicious breakfast on the back porch overlooking the ocean was such a treat, especially since the hurricane Sandy was headed their way. We do pray everything went well for them. Our king room upstairs was very roomy, the decor lovely and awesome deck overlooking the ocean. Would go back in a heartbeat!!!

Room Tip: Oceana room with the deck on 2nd floor is the place to be.
