Overall, it was a pleasant vacation for the price. The rooms are used very hard, but the rooms were clean when we arrived and cleaned very well each day. The entire staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel was conveniently located at the beginning of the boardwalk.

The outside pool area was very nice. The kids liked the game room and the big screen tv in the common room.

We would consider returning again.

Family of four with two kids did a lot of research on OC hotels. Having never stayed there, we relied on our online research to determine the best spot.

Found a fair price and the amenities we sought -- pools, quiet side of the boardwalk, and enjoyed five night stay with cordial and attentive service.

We would not hesitate a moment to stay here again.

Upon entering the Flagship, my family and I were overtaken by a dirty and unpleasant smell. The terrible smell did not get any better as we got into our room. The bed linens looked very old, as well as the curtains. The room was dark and gloomy. There was a big stain on one of the pillows, I removed it from the bed of course thinking the maid would give us fresh pillow cases the next day, but she didn't. That makes me wonder how often they change the sheets and such. The hotel staff was very nice; no problems with any of them. I just feel that for the price we paid, the hotel should be kept up much better. Our room was pretty outdated, but the bathroom was clean and new.
The setup of the hotel is rediculous. Our room was ocean front, and since the front desk and elevator are located closest to the street we had to carry our luggage up the steps. Reason for this is that in the middle of the hotel there are several steps (about 3 or 4) and we wouldn't have been able to get the luggage carrier over them. I don't know why they haven't replaced those steps with a ramp.
After reading the other reviews, I was nervous about this hotel, and considered cancelling my reservations and going elsewhere. The hotel was not terrible- after all, it does have a 24 hour indoor pool. But unfortunately, that was about all that I really liked about it. I really don't think I will stay at this hotel again.

My husband, 5 year old granddaughter and myself had the pleasure of staying at this hotel. We had a pool view room. The view from our room of the pool, ocean and boardwalk were GREAT!

The location is just a short walk (1 building) to the starting point of the tram. So it is very easy to get to the busy end of the boardwalk if you want, while staying at the quiet end.

Our room was very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Yes the steps on the floors to get to your room is hard to manage with luggage for check in and check out. We were informed at check in that we could use either the lobby elevator or the steps from the boardwalk side of the hotel to bring in our things. They also told me if we needed help getting things in just to ask. We used the lobby to get our things in. It took us 3 trips as the 2 carts for check in were in use by other guests. When we got off the elevator with our 2nd trip of things one of the workers was in the game area and helped us, letting my husband go back down for the last few things we had in the car.

There are only 2 things they could do to make the stay better. 1 put elevators on the boardwalk side of the building and put more ice machines on each floor as it is a very long walk from your room on the boardwalk side of the building to the game room area where the ice machine is.

Over all this is a great hotel!

This hotel is nicer than the older reviews would lead you to believe. We were looking for an inexpensive weekend getaway, and found a great rate on Travelocity. We stayed Friday-Sunday June 20-22 in one of the efficiency rooms.

The Pros:

Very clean room and bathroom was spotless. Bath and Body Works shampoo, conditioner and soap were a nice touch.
Comfortable Beds
Nice view of the ocean (our room overlooked the courtyard but the ocean was straight ahead)
Very friendly staff
The indoor and outdoor pools were nice.
Nice kitchenette

The Cons:
Room was a little dark.
Furniture on balcony needs to be replaced
No onsite breakfast (coffee and fresh fruit available, though)
Parking lots too small to park our midsize truck - had to park along street.

All in all, we liked the location and the rate couldn't be beat for this time of year. This is fine for a frequent visitor to OC who is looking for a nice clean but basic place to stay. We will definitely return.
