I have travelled the world and with the exception of a small hotel in Bali this is my favorite place to stay besides home. Every room is different, and every room is equally beautiful. Although in the summer you are right in the middle of busy Ocean City (walking distance to fine restaurants and the beach) when you are in your room all the world feels serene. This hotel is so romantic! It would be perfect for a honeymoon (or a second or third ;). For dessert I had a perfect chocolate martini at Fager's Restaurant (next door) when we got back to the room the candles were already lit and the lights were turned low (swoon).

My husband and I just returned from a perfect weekend getaway at The Edge Hotel in Ocean City. The Edge is located on Fager's Island at 56th Street which is right near the Assawoman Bay Bridge. We felt it was a perfect location for those who don't want to deal with the huge high rise hotels and the hustle and bustle of the crowds on the boardwalk.

From the outside, The Edge looks like a modern condo building. There are only 12 suites, and it's location is very quiet and unassuming. We stayed on the 3rd floor in the South Beach Penthouse suite. The room was beautifully furnished and offered panoramic views of the bay from an entire wall of west-facing windows. The bathroom was very modern, with glass-block walls and an open granite and glass-block shower. There is also a huge whirlpool situated in front of the windows (with blinds of course!) were you can soak away and enjoy the sunset.

The hotel offers many wonderful touches: Tommy Bahama furnishings, twice daily housekeeping, luxury Frette linens, down comforters and pillows, Cali bath products, and plush towels and bath robes. Attention to detail was evident during nightly turndown service where the staff lit the many candles throughout the room, and left Godiva chocolates on the pillows. Room service also stocked the refrigerator each evening with a continental breakfast for enjoyment in the morning.

We were thrilled that The Edge met our high expectations, and can't wait to return!

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at The Edge in October 2004. We stayed in the Orient Express. Beautiful room, beautiful view of the bay, very modern ammenities, everything was very plush!! Evening turndown service was a nice touch and we enjoyed our sodas, fruit, pastries, champagne, Godiva chocolates and coffees as well. We had dinner at the Fager's Island Restaurant which was a breeze to get to. A small foot bridge takes you from the parking lot at the Edge to the opening of the restaurant. Very convenient!!! We didn't get to check out the pool because of the season, so we hopped into the 2 person jacuzzi tub after dinner and had a relaxing evening. For those of you who are uncomfortable with not being able to contact a "front desk" 24/7, do not stay here. The "front desk" person leaves at 10 p.m. everyday. It's not like an ordinary hotel, more like a private condo all to yourself...with the exception of the nightly turndown service. The only contact I had with the front desk was at checking in and checking out. It was almost like staying on a secluded island, especially in the off season. I would recommend staying here in the off season due to price increase in the warmer months. We had a great time!
