We are locals and during the off season we've eaten at Jules numerous times and we were always quite pleased with the delicious, well prepared and presented food.
It is Restaurant Week (we went Monday 10/21), so we thought we would go and enjoy their awesome cuisine in October, i.e. $30 fixed menu for a 3 course dinner. We were seated at 5, so we each were served a free glass of wine too.
What a mistake and a disappointed to both of us.
My app was Oysters Rockefeller, the topping totally overwhelmed the taste or presence of any oyster in the 4 served. My friends app was a curried scallop dish, there were 2 in an Asian sauce.
Can't complain about the small salads, mine was fresh greens and beautifully presented. My friend had the Caesar. Having worked in the restaurant field here, the server usually prepares the salad and he did a wonderful job.
Our entrees were dreadful. My friend ordered the filet mignon - medium - it was served with one end well done and the other medium well. The lobster mashed potatoes were cold, as were the veggies. I ordered the Mahi Mahi - the topping tried to hide the filet which was mostly the blood vein and very little fish. I left 1/2 on my plate. My potatoes and veggies were cold also.
We didn't send it back because we had already been there 1.5 hrs., we were starving and we didn't want to wait any longer. The restaurant was not full.
Looks like we won't be going to Jules this winter. The quality has certainly taken a nose dive.
It's a shame to see a restaurant "rest on their laurels" and apparently take the attitude of "we are open, they will come" - we won't.
