We arrived on a Sunday about an hour before check-in and our room was not ready, so we registered and the front desk clerk took my cell number and said she'd call when the room was ready. So, we went and found chairs on their sandy beach area and watched the boats go by.

Our room was ready around 3:30 and the desk clerk did apologize for it taking so long, but it really wasn't a problem for us...loved taking in the views while waiting.

We were staying in an Inlet Suite, which was comfortable although the furnishings were a little on the dated side. The living area consisted of a table and chairs, two end tables with lamps, a sofa, a chair & ottoman, TV, phone and mid-size refrigerator with freezer & microwave and a large mirror which came in handy using on the way out the door. Between the living area and bedroom is a closet with a luggage stand as well as a fairly small bathroom square feet wise, although the tub/shower was full size and there was a large mirror with a shelf underneath that lined one entire wall, so there was plenty of room for toiletries and such. There was a wall mounted hair dryer. There were plenty of towels although the bath towels were fairly small. The only real complaints with the bathroom area is it was really hard to get a constant temperature while using the shower...it would fluctuate between scalding hot to freezing cold and took several minutes to get it just right and then at times it would change temp again without any tampering with the faucet. And, there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom either. The bedroom was roomy with two double beds which I thought were rather large and very comfortable as well as 4 large fluffy pillows which made for a good night sleep. There is also two comfy chairs and a large dresser in the bedroom and another TV as well. The only complaint I have with the bedroom is they have one full wall of windows that are covered with blinds that really don't shut out the light and so even in the dead of night there is a lot of light infiltrating from the outside. Also, there is a wall switch as soon as you enter the suite and a wall switch as soon as you enter the bedroom which I presumed to be for the lights, but they were for the TV's and once those switches are turned off the TV's must be reprogrammed again...I had no idea how to do it, so had to get housekeeping to do it a few times and they didn't seem to have a problem with assisting me.

Outside our suite are two rocking chairs facing the Inlet to sit and just enjoy the beautiful view. The grounds as well as the rooms were very well kept and the staff was very accommodating. We really enjoyed their sandy beach area that had picnic tables, free standing charcoal grills, hammocks and colorful heavy duty plastic Adirondack Style chairs scattered about. They also have a play castle for the youngsters and those young at heart and they also have an outdoor pool with a large sun deck surrounding it.

The location is excellent right on the Inlet and Bay and sandwiched between Inlet Park and Sunset Park with their own pier and a place to rent jet skis as well. And across the street is Trimper Amusement Park and Inlet Village with several little quaint shops and it's only a short walk to the beginning of the Boardwalk.

We really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay again or suggest it to others. You just have to come with the mindset that this is not a 5 star hotel, but rather a nice, clean, older beach motel. And, of all the places I've stayed in OC, I've never met so many other guests who were so nice and very talkative and most were all regulars who have been staying at Oceanic for years...they also contributed to making our stay at Oceanic so memorable!

Room Tip: Inlet Suites are very roomy and have great views.

If you're staying in the OceanCity area to spend 90% of your time 'exploring', I recommend this place. True, this is my first over-night stay in the area, but for those of us who want the biggest variety of scenery and things to do into 24hours, I think this location must be in the top 5 locations to 'drop anchor' . Do yourself a favor and check a 'map site' to check out the Oceanic's location from an aerial view. That said, if you need a place for an extended stay that 'taunts' indoor/outdoor pool, computer room, built-in convenience shop, brass-plated luggage carts, continental breakfast, etc....pick somewhere else (there's 100's). The Oceanic is a motel 'on the ocean'. What I liked: 2 min. stroll to the Boardwalk and the ocean; every kind of watercraft passing right past your doorstep; 2 blocks to partake of any kind of water excursion you could think of. As far as my ratings: Service...wasn't looking for a lot, everyone was helpful and pleasant. Value...good, again because of the LOCATION, not the amenities. Sleep quality...clean dbl bed. Cleanliness...very clean. Location...the best. Rooms...I was a little worried what I would find after reading other reviews, but it was what I expected...some fixtures were old'ish, window-sills needed painting, air conditioner noisy on start-up; but everything was clean, including sheets, shower, dresser, refrig, carpet...and everything worked properly....which is why I rated the room 'very good'. No, there is no microwave...rooms are small, no room, it's at the 'office', which is very nice and has lots of fresh, hot coffee. Fitness Room...you've got the boardwalk, beach, water-sports. Restaurant...Oceanic offers discounts at some that are 200 feet away. Other....parking lot and grounds are maintained and in great shape; pool is outside, small, but in great shape (and right next to the inlet with view of Atlantic and harbor). Overall, needs work, but maintained well, hammocks looked new (try them out). So OK, need a big place for a week with ironing board, hair dryer, room service, lots of quiet room-time...you made the wrong choice friend.......BUT if you're looking for clean place to crash with atmosphere galore within walking distance (did I mention you can see the Assateague wild ponies across the inlet, with binoculars, if you're lucky), don't hesitate to book a room at the Oceanic.

Room Tip: 2nd floor, inlet-side rooms put the water at your doorstep

Firstly, the positives... It has free parking, a good location at the end of the boardwalk where it's all happening (the other end is mostly hotels) and the pool was nice, with a nice view over the water. There is a big fridge in the room which is handy.

However, our room was tiny, even by European standards. Difficult to fit your cases in, especially as we were on a 3 week hol. The bed was a small double and the bedding made me feel like I was at my grandmas! the shower would suddenly go hot and scald us. There is no hairdryer or iron in the room. The air con is really noisy. And the room is straight out onto a communal patio area, with people walking past all hours, it can be pretty noisy. Also, there are no curtains just thin blinds so the room is really light, no good for someone like me who needs pitch black to sleep! I thought this motel was very expensive for what it is, but then again it was a holiday wknd and everywhere was expensive!

We went there a few days ago. Really good location because we were literally by the water but everything else needs work. For a $123/night stay my husband and I expected a better room but instead we got a tiny one that smelled like cigarettes..our queen sized bed (as advertised) was pretty much a double. We requested a cot for our baby but they didnt give us any (all 3 of us squeezed on the one bed). Bathroom need serious updating..there were watermarks from old leaks on the ceiling..it was just a mess--the cleaner assigned to our room did the best she could but theres no hiding a good revamp of the whole place. If your looking for literally just a bed for ur back and to be by the water then this place is for u. Otherwise, dont look for any luxuries...

We stayed there for our vaca. Sandra checked us in and she was so nice. The rooms were kinda small but it was better than we expected and a great location. The parking kind of sucked because it was tight but if you can't afford a whole lot it's worth staying at. The other motels for this price are absolutely inhabitable
