“Surprisingly enjoyable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2011

I've been coming to Ocean City for decades and never bothered visiting this museum until last year. I guess I always assumed it would be dull, but it wasn't at all. We ended up spending over an hour there looking at all the interesting exhibits (the vintage bathing suits were especially fun).

“Learn about Ocean City, Maryland's rich history.....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2010

The Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum is housed in the former Life-Saving Station/Coast Guard Building built in 1891 at the Inlet in Ocean City. The building used to be at Caroline Street and Boardwalk, but was moved to its present location in 1977. It is a wonderful place to go and soak in Ocean City's rich nautical and resort town history. The exhibits feature shipwrecks off the coast of Ocean City, Sand samples from around the world, the Boardwalk of Yesterday, Boardwalk Hotels and businesses, old fashioned bathing suits and much more!!!! It is staffed by very nice and knowledgable people who will greatly appreciate your visit. Don't forget to peruse their wonderful gift shop too!!!!

“Great little museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2010

We were given free passes to the museum so decided to check it out again. It is a great little museum located at the inlet. It tells the history of the building itself as well as the heroic efforts by the men themselves. It also gives a history of OC and shows the growth of the city. It is educational without being overwhelming for kids. A great thing they do is give kids a small list of questions that they can find the answers while touring the museuem. Upon correct completion, they get a prize. This kept my son interested and gave us time to look around. The bathing suits from years past were very interesting.

“Nice Little retreat from the heat.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2010

This is a nice retreat from the crowd, the heat and from all the rides. A treasure for us history buffs. The Museum has an aquarium, sand from around the world exhibit, this was actually intresting. It has 8 rooms of exhibits which was great. From old bathing suits to items from shipwrecked ships. I even found a picture of my Grandfather, when he was in the life saving service. This museum also features a unique gift shop and wonderful helpful staff. The only downfall of this museum is the upstairs rooms are only accessable from the steep steps. But hey this is an actual life saving station. Visit you won't be dissapointed.

“Ocean City Life Saving Museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2010

This is a great tour for those new to OC, if you're a frequent flyer and never visited, or it's perfect just to go again and again because you always find something new.

It provides a great history of OC, fishing, improvements, and so much more.
