“Great corner ocean front room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

We enjoyed a long weekend at the Marriott in Ocean City. We arrived late and were greeted by a friendly but tired desk clerk. He gave us the necessary keys, but did not spend much time telling us about the hotel amenities and what was nearby. We felt as if we had to pry information from him to find out about the hotel and surrounding area. When we got to our room we were pleased. It was clean and a good size. In addition, the extra pillows I had requested were in the room and on the bed. We had an awesome corner ocean front room with a wrap around balcony giving us views across coastal highway, as well as the perfect view of the boardwalk and ocean! Definitely the highlight of our time at the Marriott.

Room Tip: High Floor, Ocean Front with a Wrap Around Balcony!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights, and had a wonderful time!

Location
The hotel is located on 15th Street, which is a great location right on the boardwalk. You can literally be on the beach or boardwalk within moments of leaving your room. We liked being close to tons of other hotels, bars, restaurants, and shops. We were also glad to be far enough from the busiest parts of the boardwalk that there wasn't a ton of noise. If you don't know the area well, you can't do much better than this location. There's even a CVS within walking distance if you really need something that you can't find elsewhere.

Parking
The hotel has a small parking garage directly underneath the hotel, with another parking lot across the street. We parked in the garage and did not move our car the entire time we were there. There is staff onsite during normal hours, and we felt that the car was very safe.

Room
We booked a king that also had a pullout couch in a separate living area, so there was actually quite a bit of room. The bathroom also had 2 separate sinks, one outside of the bathroom itself, which very helpful.

The room was quiet and clean, the bed was very comfortable, and we liked having 2 tvs in our room. We really couldn't find anything to complain about as far as the room went!

Hotel Amenities
There is a pool in the hotel, but it's not great. For one, it's very small. It's also indoors, which is so weird for a beach hotel. There is an outdoor area around the pool that has lounge chairs and would be great for tanning, but it's awkward. We only saw some kids using the pool.

There's a restaurant, The Captain's Table, on the 3rd floor of the hotel. It also has a bar area. We ate breakfast there one day, but we didn't drink at the bar.

Staff
The staff we talked to were all very pleasant, and the housekeepers did a great job. We were amazed at how there was no sand anywhere at all, which seems impossible for a beach hotel.

Overall, we really liked this hotel and will probably return. However, the lack of a decent pool may turn some people away, especially families. If you're looking for something comparable, the Holiday Inn is a couple streets down and actually has 2 outdoor pools.

If you are looking for a location right on the boardwalk and near the rides and attractions, this is a perfect spot.

The hotel was clean and well maintained, which is not a given in a busy beach resort town. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The Captains Table Restaurant, located in the hotel, is amazing! One of the best meals we've had in Ocean City, with excellent service and nice ambiance. It's worth going to the restaurant, even if you don't stay here.

The pool was an enormous disappointment! There is a very small indoor pool, and the hot tub did not have heat or jets. When I inquired about this with the front desk, they said, "it's not a hot tub, it's a conversation area." But I seem to remember the hotel listing showing hot tub as one of the amenities. When you are finished with the beach for the day, it's nice to come back and hang out by the pool, but this was not a pleasant place to hang out. Being inside it was noisy.

If you don't care about the pool, this is a great choice, but if a nice pool is important, choose something else - and just come here for dinner!

We are in the perfect spot on the famous Ocean City boardwalk and steps away from the beach. Our hotel offers our guest the advantage of being close to everything on the boardwalk and a short walk to the inlet. Our pool is on our 3rd floor and is an indoor pool; however, during the summer months we do have doors that open the pool area and have a retractable roof to let in more sun for our guest to enjoy. The area that looks like a hot tub is actually called a conversation pit and is the same tempature water as what is in the pool because this water flows into our pool like a small waterfall. Thank you for your review TMRtraveler and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

I enjoyed a very restful and comfortable vacation at the Courtyard by Marriott in Ocean City. Without a doubt, I plan to return. This hotel was a nice size, not huge, and very intimate. The hotel staff were cheerful and pleasant on arrival and my room was very clean, quiet, and comfortable. I was worried that my room did not face the ocean. I had a city view on the third floor. It was still lovely and you could still see the beach and ocean and hear the waves. The balcony was a nice size, big enough for two people to sit and enjoy the morning breeze with a cup of complimentary coffee. Loved the coffee every morning. I slept like a baby every night and woke to delicious pancakes, waffles, and eggs from the restaurant every morning. For me, the Marriott really made our vacation special. Room service kept our rooms clean and the location was fantastic - close to everything and steps away from the beach. The pool was an ok size for kids but it was small. A hot tub would have pushed my review to a five. Also, the hotel next door had a large outdoor pool of which I was a bit envious but of course we were in Ocean City for the beach. The beach plus the Courtyard Marriott made for a very relaxing, fun, and comfortable stay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floors not facing the ocean are probably the most quiet. I can imagine ground le...

We arrived for a few days this past week. The hotel was very clean, great food, great location. Wonderful the pool is off street level and requires a room key for access. The cleanliness of our room was great on arrival. The following day when somebody came to make up the room it was a little disappointing:(( the outdoor/indoor pool is great for the kids, the unfortunate part of the pool is the tiles that are Extremely slippery when wet.

This Marriott is a disgrace to the Marriott brand. I've stayed in plenty and this one ranks last in my book. Beds are uncomfortable. Indoor pool is a death trap. No outdoor pool for that price? The balconies are terrible, especially when there's a bunch of drunk idiots screaming in the middle of the night. Management is rude. The girls at the front desk are nice but that's about all. Not sure if I could stay here again. There's better places.

Thank you for your reveiw, jobeeone_1972. Our hotel is a great place for people to stay in Ocean City and ranks among one of the best in the Courtyard brand. I apologize for other guest coming back to hotel and making noise on their balcony. Our staff contacted the guest regarding the noise and the situation was handled over the weekend. We do only have an indoor pool; however, it has sliding doors and retractable roof for great summer days. I'm not sure if the management staff spoke with you, but we are very accomodating and take all guest comments/request and act on them immediately. We would hope that you give us another opportunity to "WOW" you on your next trip to Ocean City.

We have stayed here many times and have never been disappointed. The staff is no longer friendly upon arrival with exception of a gentleman named Spencer who was very helpful and offered us his parking spot on the street. Something to be aware of is that they give you one parking pass, if some how you end up with two cars be aware you need to find parking on the street. Its unfortunate as the staff used to be great and super cheerful. The rooms are not as clean as they were in the past and the beds need to be upgraded to be on par with the usual Marriott bed. Be aware that there is only an indoor pool and the tile around it is very dangerous "slippery". Walk carefully. On our last night the room below was rented to multiple couples and at least one toddler, probably nine people in the room. They smoked and drank out on their balcony till 430 am while yelling obscenities down to the street below. At one point 2 am they had the toddler out on the rail ala Michael Jackson. We reported all of this to front desk who did nothing except warn them. That did nothing they kept it up and nothing was done by the hotel. We came back in the am to get our belongings and check out and the people were back at it. I spoke with the GM and his response was that at least it was your last night. Also be aware that they frown on using Marriott reward points. The attitude is that it puts them out and takes a room that could be making cash revenue so don't expect a warm welcome. The hotel is in a good location and the food in the restaurant is good.

Thank you for your review, Jetchef1. Our staff is here to welcome our guests and go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. Each reservation at our hotel can only receive one parking permit; this is noted on your confirmation and on our website. I am happy we were able to help find a free public parking spot on the street next to the hotel to accommodate your 2nd vehicle during your stay. I apologize that you were inconvenienced by other guests in the hotel; we try our best to keep a quiet and comfortable atmosphere in the hotel. The evening of the disturbance, our staff did walk down to the room and warn the guest on the night that you are speaking about in your review; however, I did speak to the guest in person the next morning and there were no additional issues. We appreciate your business and welcome all our guest whether they are paying or using Marriott Reward Points. We understand that guests save up all year to use their points and we welcome all point stays at our property. Our staff and I look forward to seeing you and your family on your next trip to Ocean City.
