“Friendly service and wonderful view...”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

Very nice hotel - only 3 years old. I stayed in a corner ocean front room which had a great wrap around balcony and wonderful view of the beach. There was a spacious kitchen like area with counter, fridge and microwave. Bathroom was nice sized but room was a tad small. The hotel service was very friendly and rooms and hotel as a whole were very clean - a bit rare for Ocean City as many of the hotels are quite old. The room was a bit expensive but to be expected during this time of year and with a convention going on. Food at the Captain's table was quite good, however, the service was super slow. Wait staff was friendly and trying to stay on top of things but the kitchen was behind... All in all a very nice stay and would stay there again.

Room Tip: Corner rooms have large balcony and wonderful view of the beach.

Location for this property is stellar...and so far we have enjoyed our stay. I liked the pool area because it was small enough to keep the family all centrally located. There was also a neat little splash area for the toddlers. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming.

I think there is something wonderful about Ocean City for families....and this hotel is just fine for all.

There is a Seinfeld episode where Jerry arrives to pick up his rental car and it is not there. Jerry comments something to the effect that they know how to take a reservation, they just do not know how to hold the reservation. That sums up this hotel.

In May I booked two rooms for three nights, both to be ocean views. At the time of the booking I discussed with the reservation clerk using Marriott Rewards points or paying. I was told it made no difference. I opted to pay for one night in each room with points and pay normally for the other nights.

Upon checking in we were advised we would have to check in and out every day as we would be in a different room each day and would not have an ocean view for the day we used my points for. This is contrary to what I was told when I made the reservation when I was promised the same room, as anybody would expect for the entire stay. Seriously, does Marriott really think somebody wants to be roomless for 5 hours every day between 11:00am checkout and 4:00pm checkin?

I have been a Marriott Rewards Gold and Silver member but no more. I will never stay at a Marriott again.

Further, the manager who likes to post here after the fact has his business card at the front desk. I emailed him. In typical fashion for this hotel, no response for over 20 hours. When he finally did contact me, he indicated he believed I was told we would have the same rooms every night but would offer nothing more than refunding the points used for one room, for one night. He said many people make reservations wanting to change rooms every night. Apparently the hotel believes if you use points that you can only use them for a non ocean view room. But that is not what reservations says when booking. The front desk staff is rude and unhelpful. The one exception is Tasha who truly tried to help.

Also, don't plan on calling housekeeping at night. Apparently they are very busy at 11:00 pm as a call to them resulted in a promise but no action for an hour finally requiring us to go to the front desk and wait 10 minutes at midnight for the assistance requested an hour earlier. The manager did tell me that the extra sheets we had called to request were in a drawer in the room. It would have been nice if the front desk would have told us that when we called, instead of making us wait over an hour for housekeeping to appear.

From the moment we checked in from the front desk staff to the Housekeeping staff, everyone was outstanding. Even the Restaurant had outstanding food and service. Now for the negative which is not much....

The price of room and food was $$$$$ very expensive. And the indoor pool is very small, the water looked green and mucky even thought they clean it everyday. There are always at least 20 kids in a pool with allot of splashing and noise, and what looks like a hot tub in pictures is just a small round tub, NOT a hot tub. I really wish they had a decent indoor pool. But hey you can't have everything. Other than that the hotel was perfect!!! And the free coffee everyday in lobby was a plus!!!

Room Tip: I had room 321 on same floor as front desk. This room was perfect, across from laundry room and poo...

We only stayed one night. Checked in at ten pm passing through. The rooms are so clean and nicely decorated. The balcony was a plus and the bed extremely confortable. Typical marriot with great upkeep. Breakfast was awesome!

I would have to say that this is an okay stay and is not worth the price they are asking.

Pros: 1. it is on the beach 15th street and is right off of the boardwalk. 2. it is updated and pretty clean. 3. we had a city view room and our room had a small view of the ocean.

Cons: 1. parking is horrible, the parking under the hotel is small, a tight fit and most of the times there are no spaces available, you have to park across the street. 2. There is no lotion in the rooms (it seems like a small issue, but you are in the ocean or the pool and lotion is needed when your skinned is dried out). 3. It was extremely difficult to reserve the type of room you want because the hotel was packed to capacity- the only room I could get was a city view 2 queen for just my husband and myself (waste of space for just the 2 of us). 4. the pool is EXTREMELY small and the "hot tub" is just an extension of the pool and was not hot at all. 5. they give no incentives for marriott rewards members, you are like everyone else. 6. There is no room service after 10:30 (that can be a problem when you come to the hotel late and there are no options available to get a hot meal at the hotel- we actually had to order take out delivery :-( 7.no breakfast included (unlike the other hotels), the captains table- the food was average 8. the price, be prepared to pay a lot to stay here.
I expected more from this hotel, especially if they are asking $399+ tax per night. They also require a deposit worth a full night and there is no cancellations 3 nights before checkin. We were experiencing a lot of bad weather in our city and we had to go through the weather to get to ocean city because we would lose $399+tax if we didn't check in.

All in all, this hotel and stay was average at best, nothing special, just average. Honestly, I would only stay here again when the price is lowered. I feel like you can get something similar such as, the new Hampton, the Monte Carlo etc that is cheaper, has breakfast included and other incentives for your money.

This is the second year my family has selected this hotel, and once again it was a great choice. This hotel is very clean and has everything you need. The location is great, on the boardwalk 15th street, close enough, but far enough away from the noise. The pool is small, but very nice to have. The place is well worth the money. We have a great time, and love the property. We will be back next year for sure!!!

Room Tip: The third floor rooms, will put you on the floor as the pool, front desk, and rest.
