“Fabulous fall getaway”
Reviewed October 4, 2009

We recently stayed at The Suites at Silver Tree. My husband and I enjoyed the accommodations very much. The autumn leaves were in mid peek and on most days you could enjoy their reflection on the water from our private balcony! The suites are beautifully decorated. The main lobby is gorgeous with the three native stone fireplaces.
The front desk staff was very knowledgeable of the area. They all seemed friendly and pleasant. The manager went out of her way to make sure everything was suitable and to our expectations. We couldn't have asked for a more pleasant romantic getaway.

My girlfriend and I stayed there fore a 2-day getaway. They are not very accomodating, nor very welcoming. No friendly faces, no smiles. But the worst part is that for prices you would pay to stay in the City, they do NOT do full housekeeping unless you pay even more! When I questioned them about this, I was told that this is because they are condominiums....So What? I was also told that essentially it was my fault for not reading their instructions when I booked online or I would have known this. They also provide no items for picnics, like chairs or towels unless you agree to stay on the premises

My fiance and I stayed at the Suites at silver tree while visting locations for our wedding on deep creek lake. The hotel was basically empty for our weekend so that was nice. Our shower leaked and sprayed water all over the bathroom. A call for maitenance did not result in service during our stay. Also the housekeeping including emptying the trash and nothing else. They did not restock shampoo or coffee.

booking/checking in:
we booked online, they called us the next day and asked us to sign and send back a contract. it was very easy. the front desk people were friendly on the phone (gave me numbers to spas and wisp resort) and even when we got there, they gave us advice on where to eat, and let us check in earlier than normal since we got there early (room was ready by 11am). they also take AAA or AARP and other discounts.

our room: we rented a one bedroom suite with loft and lakeview. it was definitely right on the lake with a beautiful view. our place was big, clean bathroom, furniture and everything looked new. on the main floor, there's a kitchenette so you can only microwave and not cook. there's only 1 bathroom on the main floor. there's a queen sofabed in the living room, a queen sofabed in the loft, and also a daybed that can turn into a queen bed or 2 twin beds. so with the 1 bedroom, you could fit 8 people comfortably. there's also 2 tvs, on in the loft (a flatscreen) and one in the living room. i brought my little laptop and could wireless everywhere.

the hotel and its location: right on the lake. it was also very close to wisp, like 10 minutes and near a lot of restaurants. we went to 2 great places to eat. santa fe grille for lunch. and uno's for dinner. the other group ate at Brenda's pizzeria and they said that was great too. the suites had a computer desk in the lobby you could check email at anytime. the lobby is beautiful witha fireplace and lots of cozy couches, and up the stairs is the reading loft which also looked cozy. from the lobby and the reading loft you can see the lake. i thought it was kind of expensive but then after looking at other places, it was about the same, plus we passed by other locations i saw on tripadvisor and they looked pretty crappy and old compared to the suites.

only problem: the only problem was the heat in the loft. when you are going up the spiral staircase, you can feel the 15 degree difference in temperature. we had to leave the sundeck door opened so that we could feel normal, but that made the one bedroom people freeze. went to sleep at 1am, but at like 3 am, it got cold and had to shut the door and turn the heat back on. we were in suite 307. another group of us stayed in a studio with loft, and they didn't have this problem. they were on the same floor too (3rd floor).

we had a great time. we were 2 couples and went there to relax. we went snowtubing, and rode the mountain rollercoaster at wisp. we drank alot of margaritas at the 2 restaurants, and drank some more in our suite. we enjoyed our stay at the suites and would definitely go there again.

We booked the Suites at Silver Tree because the Wisp Hotel was full. Silver Tree was having a 30% off sale and this made the hotel quite affordable. As described previously, the main area of the hotel is spectacular and beautifully decorated. There were few guests when we stayed for a Sunday and Monday night in late January and this made for a very private family experience. My two teens even played chess in the library area one night, something they wouldn't have done at the Wisp Hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were allowed to bring our ski equipment into the room and an alcove by the bathroom was a perfect area for this. The gas fireplace in the room became hot quickly which was great for drying ski equipment. The room was very clean. The only complaint about the studio room was that the pull out sofa bed was not comfortable.
The hotel's location on the lake was lovely. Since the lake was frozen we were able to walk on the ice and contemplate what it would be like to be an "Ice Road Trucker" (the ice made strange noises). It snowed both days we visited. All in all, my family had a wonderful, private experience in the winter wonderland at the Suites of Silver Tree.

We just returned from a quick stay at the Suites at Silver Tree and loved it. The family and I came up for 2 days of skiing at Wisp.

The location is fabulous. It's right on the lake. It's January so the lake was frozen, but it looked like it'd be super fun in the summer. It was about 5 minutes to the skiing at Wisp.

The lodge was beautiful. The main area has a enormous stone fireplace in the middle. They also had decorated the hotel in some very festive Christmas/holiday decorations. They had some garland, lights, a tall christmas tree, and even a sleigh! They have a computer for anyone to use. And they have comfy chairs and couches to sit on. It's very welcoming! They also have an area with hot chocolate, coffee, tea, etc all day. There is also a reasonably priced vending machine in that room. Upstairs, they have a reading nook with some chairs, games, magazines, and books. The view of the lake is unbeatable up there!

Our room was pretty pleasant. We had a fireplace, a TV, a kitchenette, a large window, and a couch. They had everything we needed in the kitchenette, even real silverware!!!! No complaints, except it'd be nice to have a few more lights. It was a little dark after the sun went down.

The staff was friendly. The only problem was that there was no continental breakfast. The hotel wasn't very busy, and was very quiet and relaxed.

Overall, we loved this hotel and are absolutely going to stay here when we return to the area again! It's a great place to hang out and relax!!

  • Liked — how it is peaceful and relaxing, and the view!!!

My wife and I spent 4 nights at the Suites at Silver Tree. The ground floor room facing the parking lot was well appointed but lacked a dresser for some strange reason. There is a place to hang clothes in the bathroom but other than that we had to make do with the night stands. There is no separation between the toilet/ bath and the vanity area. The queen sized bed was hard as a rock and not very comfortable. The room was dark but I suspect the rooms on the lake side are a bit brighter. The only noise issues we had were with the upstairs guests. The parking lot was surprisingly quiet. There is a gas fireplace which was neat but it put out a lot of heat and so was not practical for summer use. I guess you could turn up the AC full blast for those romantic moments. The room was equipped with a kitchenette and there is a super Wal-Mart a few miles down the road. The hotel is beautifully decorated but the staff leaves a bit to be desired. Not very friendly and a bit rushed on the week-end.

Parking is adequate and they have a lovely spot on the lake though swimming is made difficult by the hotel's Marina operation. Many boats coming and going. There is an exercise room with a sauna. There is a treadmill, bicycle and elliptical trainer. A small Universal gym but no free weights. This area is very clean. We ate at the hotel restaurant and found the food to be OK but nothing to write home about. Again, there is a super Wal-Mart down the road and a kitchenette which we made good use of.
