Swallow falls is a wonderful campground and hiking area. My only reservation with this park is they do not allow pets (even leashed dogs) in the hiking areas, or falls areas. This becomes limiting when you are not allowed to leave your pets at your campsite unattended either. They are very strict about the policy. Other than the pet policy it is a lovely campground with numerous sites and several playgrounds. The bathrooms were clean and they had a well stocked camp store on the premises within a short walk from the sites. There was a longer hiking trail (3 miles) that is really nice and comes out at the far end of the park where dogs are allowed but again are not allowed past the trail on the other side. The falls are beautiful and a great swimming spot but on the weekends can be pretty crowded. The lake at the other end of the park offers a beach and boat dock as well. Pretty place but hard to traverse with pets. Very close to Deep Creek Lake.

Love Swallow Falls State Park - great hiking trails in a very old forest of hemlocks. Water falls and rocky ravines. Bring your hiking boots!

I live near Frostburg and I come here multiple times a year. How could you not? If you come in the summer of course it's beautiful and has some of the greenest green I'ved ever seen plus some crazy trees and rock formations. Plus you can see where Thomas Edison and Henry Ford slept when they stayed there. OR MY FAVORITE, go in the winter. Bundle up because it gets cold but the giant icicles, snow bent tree limbs, and animals tracks are worth it. Once you get back into the car just drive yourself over to Mountain State Brewery and get some great pizzas and beers to warm you up.

You haven't been to Swallow Falls until you've seen it in every season.

I visited pre-Sandy. I live close and visit frequently. I'm not sure how much damage there was to the forest. However, the trails are pleasant, following the water. There are two falls, Muddy Creek which is pictured and Swallow Falls. Swimming is possible at Swallow Falls. There are picnic tables and restrooms.
