“Nice dinner with family”

Our family enjoyed a casual dinner at the Harp after a day of activities. The food was good. The service was great. Our needs were met without being intrusive.

“Nice neighborhood restaurant/sports bar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

My husband and I go to the Harp frequently, because we like the food and the service. We almost always sit in the bar, where we get excellent service from the many bartenders on duty. During happy hour (Monday - Friday, 3-7 pm), they have drink and appetizer specials. Some of our favorites are the shrimp rose appetizer and the Harp salad. The crab cakes, flatbreads, crab soups and Irish stew are good, too. There is always a good crowd.

“Irish billing not accurate”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2013

Although this community really needs more independent restaurants, The Harp is a disappointment. The limited menu does not provide any truly Irish items, and does not do a particularly good job with the standard burgers, salads, flatbreads, etc. The entrees designated as "Irish" include mac and cheese with chicken and a burger with cheddar cheese. Really?
In search of a vegetarian entrée, there was only an offering of a veggie wrap. Even the cabbage is cooked in animal products. The plop of nondescript garlic mashed potatoes was a stiff $4.95, when paired with a lackluster small Caesar salad at $5.00.
Although the waiter was nice enough, he was not particularly helpful with suggestions. One nice vegetarian dinner offering does not seem to be too much to ask!
A "picky" point, but one that added to the overall impression that this place isn't trying hard enough, was a glass of iced tea so tasteless that it might as well have been water.
We will not be returning. Those who want food that approaches some semblance of Irish influence will be better off at Ryan's Daughter at Belvedere Square or An Poitin Stil in Timonium.

“Good Food, Good Service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2013

Met friends for a casual evening dinner. They do not take reservations and we arrived around 6pm and got one of the last tables available. Server was very friendly and took our drink orders along with our appetizer order for the rockfish biites. When the server delivered our beers, she took our dinner order. Although they do have an extensive menu, two of us ordered the Braised Pork Shank and two the Sheperds Pie. The server came back a few minutes later and told us they were sold out of the Braised Pork Shank. I don't know how you can run out of a signature dish that early in service. we reordered a Chicken Jennifer and a Harp Dagwood. The rockfish bites came out and they were crispy with tender flavorful rockfish inside. Very Good!! The entrees did satisfy. The Shepard's Pie was very good, flavorful and plentiful. The Chicken Jennifer was well cooked, juicy and very flavoful. The Harp Dagwood had very tender and juicy brisket, very good, but had to eat with fork and knofe - very sloppy sandwich.
Ha a cannoli tart for dessert to round out the meal. Overall a good experience and we will be back to try the Braised Pork Shank!!
