It would seem impossible that such a world of difference could exist between different stores in the same chain, But lo, the North Bethesda restaurant should not fly the flag! We are used to The Boca Raton shop and one would also think that the Bethesda area would be just as discerning... We ordered the $39.95 menu for two and a $56.00 bottle of Franciscan Magnificat '09. We were clear that we wanted the wine before or to time with the soup. After about 15-20 minutes, the wrong soups were delivered. We again asked for our wine... Within - about another 7 minutes, dumplings arrived, still no wine or soup! We sent the dumplings back and told our waiter to hold the food and get the wine. Two minutes later, calamari s arrived, were sent back, now the soups come and the waiter with a Francis Coppola 2011 Claret... He argued with us about his belief in the lack of difference between Francis and Franciscan and that anyway it was only $33.00. At this point, we asked to cut the meal short and bring us a check for the soups... A manager then appeared and apologized, picked up the tab and offered a guest gift card for $25.00 for a next Chang visit... Which will certainly NOT be in Bethesda.
