“A long pause at the Potomac”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

We have been frequenting Gilligan's for years when we visit our son who lives in the area. We have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The food is above average fare for the area and the waitstaff are kind and adept. The clientele ranges from families to bikers to boaters, so be prepared for a variety of customers. The parking lot is full of all manner of vehicles including an outstanding array of bikes and classic cars. The docks are stacked with everything from pontoon boats to speed boats and they have a boat taxi to make it even more convenient. The sandy beach makes for a comfortable setting to watch the sun chase the horizon and there is the ever present music coursing in the background.
If you just want to get away from it all and relax, this is the place to be.

“"Eclectic place" says it all...”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

Showed up on a steamy Sunday afternoon for a late lunch and a drink by the water. Place was PACKED with lots of locals and bikers there for AYCE specials and to listen to live reggea band. Sat out on porch area with ceiling fans going full speed. Over the next 2 hours watched one couple polish off what must have been a bushel of crabs and 2 pitchers of drinks without blinking an eye. Our food was good but the majority of folks were there for the AYCE crabs and I didn't here a single complaint.

Music and beach bar area were going strong along with the boat parties anchored just out from the pier.

Mixed drinks were inconsistent as medsalesguy has previously stated.

“Very Nice Staff and great outdoor environment”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

Just recently went to Gilligans for the first time this past saturday July 27th. I will be going again! The crabs, crab balls, hush puppies, crab legs, shrimp and crab dip were all served fresh and ready to eat. The staff was very friendly including our waiter Mike, he was very friendly and joked with us and very pleasant. After we ate inside we went out doors where they had a live band that played all types of music, a tiki bar, volley ball net, plenty of chairs for seating all on the potomac. The scenery was nice and refreshing. I will come back next time with more friends to enjoy the crabs and the ourtdoor party on the beach!

“Disappointing start for old favorite”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

This has been one of our favorite spots on the Potomac River, when boating. Let's start with the good. Conch fritters are still excellent and the crab salad also still pleases it's blend of flavors. The wings, while good were way over-sauced. The biggest disappoint is the new service staff. When a complaint was made about the amount of ice in the mixed drinks, no attempt was made to rectify or get a manager. Instead a lame excuse of we use an exact measure. Then how come one drink came with a plastic cup crammed with ice and about 3 sips of margareta and the second had half that amount of ice. Second round after the complaint was the same. Will in future go for food and drink beer on our own boat. A $6 mixed drink should not come in a plastic Dixie cup packed with ice.

“Nothing to write home about”
Reviewed May 2, 2013 via mobile

Ended up here since Captain Billy's was closed. My food was nothing special, although the locals seemed to enjoy the giant crab and shrimp specials. These specials looked more appetizing than my Rockfish platter. The ambience is nice, with decent service, and views of the water.
