We loved this place - the welcome was friendly and on the night we were there it was quiet with only four other tables occupied. Sitting on a wooden terrace overlooking a lawn it was relaxing. There is an aperitif followed by an amuse bouchée. The drinks bottles are left with you - rose, white and cassis by this stage. Then came a buttery foie gras and a bottle is sweet Monbazillac followed by duck salad and a choice of two reds - these are local Bergerac/Thénac wines and contrary to a previous reviewer they are not “cheap”! There is a choice for main course including a fish dish and then the sensational cheese board with a bottle of Chateau Lardy which is a lovely smooth local wine. Pudding is again a choice and this was the only part of the meal which was a little disappointing as my chocolate dessert could have been left out of the freezer a little sooner. There is then the offer of a digestive and coffee or tea for €38. It was not only a fabulous experience but an absolute bargain!!! Thank you, we had a lovely evening and your generous hospitality was delightful.

This was by far the best meal experience I’ve had so far in France!!! The setting was quaint and comfortable, the service was superb, and the food was amazing. Each of the six courses came with bottles of wine, that were perfectly paired, and were left for us to enjoy as much as we wanted. The choices for main course and dessert were all delicious - a real incentive to go back again, and as others have mentioned the cheese board was just superb. I could eat here every evening for a week and not get tired of it. It was generous French hospitality at its best.

It just doesn’t come any better. There’s only one menu - 5 courses plus amuse bouche - but a great choice of main and deserts and with 17 different cheeses on the most amazing cheese board. With 6 different wines included in the price it’s just amazing value as well as being fantastic did with incredibly efficient service.

It just doesn’t come any better.

We visited this superb restaurant for the first time last year and were completely stunned by the food, service, ambience. So, finding ourselves not far away with our business, we booked again last week, with two friends, and just hoped our memories were serving us well. We were not disappointed, in fact, I think we enjoyed this visit even more than last year. This is local food and service at its absolute best. You have aperitifs, entrees, salad, main course, cheese, dessert, digestif, coffee and beautiful home-made coffee accompaniments, with a whole bottle of wine (or wines for larger groups) delivered to accompany each course. The owner has clearly taken time to choose the right wines to accompany each of your courses. It is useful to designate a non-drinking driver before you go! The entree is usually foie gras with onion or fig jam and Monbazillac. Our salad was a huge perigourdine green salad with gesiers, walnuts and smoked duck breast. There was a choice of five (or six) main courses - one of which was a fish option, two were duck (confit or magret). The biggest cheeseboard I have seen (since our last visit anyway) - the owner tells you about each and every one of them, probably fifteen or more, cheeses - brings superb wines to accompany them. There is a choice of six desserts. Then with our coffee we were served homemade little meringues, with delicious chewy centres, and little medallions of very dark chocolate sprinkled with nuts. Do not have any breakfast of you book here for lunch - I would say booking is essential - and don't plan very much for your supper either. We could not manage a morsel until breakfast the following day. There is a superb, large outside, covered terrace for the sunny days, and a cosy indoor restaurant for cooler days, like ours was. Our friends, who live not far away, have been many times, and have never been disappointed. We shall definitely go again, probably in December when we will be working nearby again. Oh, and the cost is set price -€38 per person (yes, I cannot believe it either!)

We first visited this restaurant in 2007 when our family bought a property nearby and wandered in not knowing what to expect. They were served 6 courses of (mainly duck) amazing food and were amazed. We nicknamed it duck, duck, duck and duck and since then we have been back whenever we have visited. It's an amazing 6 course meal, fantastic value for money, more wine than you drink. Excellent service. Absolutely no complaints. We look forward to visiting many more times in the future.
