In my continuing search for decent Asian food in Charles County, I took my family to the Hot Pot Chinese Restaurant in Charlotte Hall. At 1PM Saturday, we were the only customers. Service was fine, but 5 out of 6 dishes were minimally edible. The combination fried rice was good. The other 5 dishes had much in common. All were on the menu as spicy -NONE were. The Spicy Szechuan dumplings had thick, chewy wrappers, unknown filling the size of a grain of corn, and a slightly sweet, bland brown sauce common to the other dishes. An order of Thai Basil Beef had the brown sauce with Hoi Sin sauce added, and had no relation to Thai cuisine. This dish and a Chinese Triple Delight had vegetables which were all over cooked. An order of "Spicy" tofu offered the brown sauce again. The chicken and beef in two dishes had been tenderized with baking powder. Definitely not worth a return visit. I'll keep searching.
