We were in the area for the weekend to celebrate an early Thanksgiving. After a morning of hiking we all needed some lunch. Between the group of us, we had beef, pulled chicken, and pulled pork sandwiches with various sides. Everyone loved the sandwiches, and the cornbread was a big winner.

The portions on the sandwiches were well worth the money, while we'd have liked more cornbread for the price (and because it was good). We'd definitely come back for more.

We always stop @ Archies on our way thru the Deep Creek area once or twice a year. The barb q is consistently good, with big portions and reasonable prices. Good stop when you are in the area.

There were 6 of us & we all had their ribs. They were not cooked well enough & the taste was extremely bland.
Just a bare bones operation.
I would not recommend this at all.

Thank psdolly

Thank you for letting us know how you feel. As owners on property all the time we pride ourselves in bringing to our guests, a quality meal each and every time. I wish you had made us aware of your dislike and we could of offered another meat option for you. Our pound and a half order of Baby Back Ribs are given our barbeque dry rub and then smoked over hickory wood for four hours. Slow cooked barbeque meats often exhibit a pink ring. In beef the ring is a reddish pink and in pork, chicken and turkey, it is bright pink. This pink ring is often referred to as the smoke ring. http://www.smokingpit.com/info/smokering.pdf and what causes well done meat to be pink link - http//www.fsis.usda.gov/factsheets/is_pink_turkey_meat_safe/index.asp

This place falls way down on food preparation. Chicken was bloody and did not pull away from the bone. Ribs were tough and had no flavor. Be careful if you are there and they run low on food because this meat should not have been served. When asked for meat more done, they didn't have any and only offered bread and beans. Plus they said that the meat is supposed to be red from smoking. That's true, but this was on the inside next to the bone. Be careful with what they hide. I would not trust eating there.

We are so sorry your experience at Archie's BBQ was not resolved while you were visiting our restaurant. As owners we do care and spend alot of time and attention on every detail. While you were dining we did have a tour bus come in but there is no excuse for our manager or I not to have taken the time to address any concerns you had.The dining room attendant was new and of course very busy taking food to tables. I would like to refer you to two links about "PINK MEAT" from the USDA website. "Pink Meat" the color of cooked chicken is not a sign of its safety. http://www.fsis.usda.gov/fact_sheets/color_of_Meat_&_Poultry/index.asp and What causes well done meat to be pink?

Top five ribs in my book, and I've had the opportunity to try them around the world....fall off the bone and not overwhelming hickory flavor, just right....what great service!...highly recommend to anyone who loves BBQ at its finest.

Thank Erick B
