As you read this, please do *not* discount this review and say to yourself "we'll take our chances with the hotel." *DONT*

What you will *not* get:

1) Hot Water
2) Clean Sheets
3) Clean Rooms
4) Helpful Staff
5) Quiet Environment

Our stay was to enjoy the adjoining mountain, which is fantastic for an East coast resort. The hotel allowed under age kids (no less than 100 this weekend) run around the halls until 3am, without any supervision or authority. The rooms are dirty and do no resemble any description provided on the website.

ABSOLUTELY go to WISP and enjoy the mountain; but *at all costs* avoid the hotel.

We were in town for a wedding, and although the rate was great and the staff was friendly, the room was atrocious! In the 2 nights we were there, we managed to kill EIGHT flies. The carpets looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages, the layout of the room was strange, the bathroom/sink area was barely large enough for one person, and the bed (with only 2 pillows on it) was hard as a rock! One would definitely expect more from a 'resort' The kicker--we were in the newer part of the resort! The saving grace was the wedding itself held at the resort, it was beautiful and the food was very good.

We stayed for one nite on July 28. We had a family reunion in Deep Creek. The Hotel was nice. Staff were helpful. The pool was nice with a hot tub. Pool was 3 to 9 foot deep. The room was basic. We had a king bed. The room was partitioned into two parts with a fold down bed on the wall, which I never checked.

All Wisp staff were very pleasant, helpful and always smiling. Ski lift operators and equipment staff offered more information on any area without hesitation. Very knowledgeable. The only drawback to the Wisp was the condition of the room. Although "clean" from a dust or orderly sense, the odor of stale smoke, mildew and dust permeated the fabrics in the room. Bedding and window treatments need replacement quickly! The carpet in this particular room made me regret not bringing shower shoes. The carpet stains ranged in size from a few inches to several feet around. This room on the third floor needs renovation and updating. I would expect to find this type of room in a numbered motel on a major highway for less than half the $169. per night rate. We will not return to the Wisp unless we check out the room beforehand or it is totally renovated.
Our stay was for 2 nights, Friday and Saturday. Extremely disappointed with the room.

We have stayed at this property several times over the past 6 years. The building has two sections, the Tower and the Pool Side Wing. Families with younger children seem to prefer the Pool Side Room Wing. We personally preferred the Tower wing. The rooms in the Tower wing have several choices. The largest room is our preferred room or suite. It provides you with a two room suite with a larger bed in the one room and a queen sleeper in the other room. The next rooms available are a room with two double beds in the front of the room and a pull queen bed in the back.

The staff is very friendly and what you would expect in this community of which is mostly made up of friends of the Brethren Church. This community used to close most businesses on Sunday, so check on the things you want to do on Sunday to make sure they are open. The newer chain restaurants are always open, but some of the smaller family owned places still close on Sunday or have limited hours.

The only con to our stay is that the workout room and the changing room for the pool in down a 20 or more steps. This makes it hard for some one that is handicapped, so you must change in your room and then drip through the lobby on your way back to the tower. The first floor of the Pool Side Wing hallway is being wet vacuumed to keep up the water from the children running from the pool to their rooms. The staff however keeps this area better than you would think with the current conditions.

Check out the restaurant in Oakland called Josies which just moved into a larger building 2 years ago.

Stayed in the older section. Rooms were nice, but the hallway was short (I'm 6" 5"). DC's had great food. The area was awesome for events and things to do. The only negative was the sheets kept slipping off the bed.

We stayed at the Wisp resort for 2 nights for a familly reunion. I guess because we were given a group rate, they put us in the original building of the resort. Very much in need of an update. Polyester bedspreads, pilled blankets concrete block walls, dirty carpeting and plastic glasses. Tolerable since it was clean. The highlight was the restaurant. Exceptional wine list and actual Reidel glasses. Victoria Buckel, the manager was gracious and very knowledgeable. The menu was very interesting and the food of excellent quality. Good place to eat, if you don't have to stay at the hotel.
