“Heavenly beds and amenities”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2008

Stayed here for a long weekend at the end of May with a group to see a Red Sox-Orioles game.

Got the Westin at BWI, for $85 a night on hotwire. It's only a few months old and it's nice, clean, with great amenities and deserves its 4* designation.

The hotel is located right next door to the Sheraton and in the same vicinity as many other airport hotels. You can not see or hear the airport. It's very quiet. The hotel has free parking, and a free shuttle service (arrives about every 20 minutes) that will take you to the airport and the Light Rail train which you can take right into Camden Yards/Inner Harbor/Convention Center area. You can also ask the front desk to hail you a cab... it cost us roughly between $18 and $27 for a cab ride into Camden Yards.

I have nothing but excellent things to say about the hotel and our stay there. The front desk staff accommodated our requests for various room configurations (some of us needed two double beds, some needed one king).

The "heavenly" beds and showers lived up to their names. In fact, the next time I need a new mattress set I think I might spring for the Heavenly set. Curtains in the rooms keep things nice and dark. My husband and I slept soundly, didn't hear a peep. Rooms are equipped with flat screen TVs, iron and ironing board, hair dryers, room safes, and minibars (if you so choose).

The Westin feels like a business hotel that is also family-friendly. The decor is simple with dark wood and straight lines. I liked it. There is an on-site restaurant and bar and room service is available. If you stay on the 7th floor Executive level, you'll get a free breakfast spread.

The Westin has a very nice pool and Jacuzzi. Bring your suits.

This was my first trip to Baltimore, and I would definitely stay at the Westin BWI again.

  • Liked — The beds are super comfortable, the showers nice and hard.
  • Disliked — Waiting for the shuttle. I am not a lover of shuttles.

I was very pleased to get this hotel through Hotwire! The heavenly bed was very comfortable, the room was a generous size, and the decor was modern and tasteful. I really liked the exercise room, which had treadmills with built-in cable video, and the pool was also very nice. And to be at an airport hotel and get free parking is also a plus.

The only drawback to this hotel is that they charge for high-speed internet, and if you want the in-room bottle of water it is $4.95! Bring your own water, surf the net elsewhere and you will have a great stay!

  • Liked — The bed, decor, size of room
  • Disliked — Charges for internet, bottled water

I was initially dismayed that my wife booked us at an "airport hotel" while in Maryland for a trip to a high school lacrosse tournament; but when we checked in I realized the Westin BWI was a great find! Opened within last 12 months, Zen atmosphere, spotless, totally up to date, committed to service, terrific experience and great location. The rooms are wonderful with flat screen HD/TV, movies, beautiful furnishing, and Westin's wonder beds. Totally smoke free hotel. Very quiet setting, and very classy operation from top to bottom. If you can get government rates, you will be very pleased with the price. BWI is surrounded by Hotels, and we think it is clearly the best of the bunch.
We traveled to Towson, Annapolis, Owings Mills, and Inner Harbor of Baltimore effortlessly by rented car; the location is quite central to what we needed to do. The hotel shuttle took us happily to dinner each night at area restaurants in nearby town, and would have done anything for us. Light rail was nearby and the shuttle will drop you and pick you up, so a car becomes somewhat superfluous. The in house restaurant, Luminous, was a wonder of Asian Fusion cuisine; some of the most delicious food I ever had.; and the room service food was delicious, creative, and reasonable for room service. The hotel has a very nice, brand new exercise facility, indoor pool and hot tub. The staff was so accomodating we hated to leave.

  • Liked — rooms, lobby, services, location, shuttle services
  • Disliked — limited choices in dining outside of hotel, but the hotel restaurant was excellent

This is the best airport hotel I have ever stayed at. It is brand new and gorgeous. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious (as expected from a Westin). It is two miles from the airport, but not close to much else except other airport hotels. If only I could find more city hotels like this!

What I like about the hotel:
- Beautiful, modern room decor and very comfortable beds.
- Thick comfy bathrobes.
- Front desk personnel very helpful and courteous
- Hotel express service very fast. Took minutes before extra bathrobes and toiletries were delivered.

Negatives:
- Found hair in bath tub.
- Hotel couldn't find my reservation even though I made it weeks before using the Westin website and had the confirmation number.

Do I recommend it? Yes! The positives outweigh the negatives. :)

  • Liked — Comfort and luxury.
  • Disliked — Cleanliness.

Stayed the weekend here and got a great rate. Location opened in late 2007, so everything is new. Upscale bedding and towels. The best room-darkening drapes ever, so set your alarm! Thick robes provided although our king room had only one in the closet. Round the clock shuttle service to local restaurants and to the light rail. We use the light rail to get to the inner harbor: so no parking issues or traffic issues. And a $104 a night, this location was less than 1/3 of the equivalent inner harbor hotels. They have most things you need in the room- hair dyer, iron and ironing board, bottled water. Strangely, they charge for wireless internet service when just about everyone offers it free.

  • Liked — quality furnishings
  • Disliked — charge for internet access

For a weekend getaway to see the Orioles play the Yankees last Saturday, my husband and I stayed at the Westin BWI. I was a little concerned about the distance from the hotel to Camden Yards (and the Inner Harbor area), but a constantly running shuttle took us from the hotel to the Light Rail Sat. afternoon and picked us up late after the game from the Light Rail stop, which is about 5 mins away. It was the perfect way to get downtown, and for the price of the room it could not be beat. (I spent quality time checking out all the Baltimore hotels) Every other hotel that was closer to downtown was at least double the price. This was the best the way to go. The Light Rail costs about $3 roundtrip per person/per day.

Now, onto the room itself---immaculate! This hotel is new, the room was large, the "heavenly bed" very comfortable, a large window with a nice view, a great t.v., and a very nice shower. If you like to workout, there is a serious workout room and a nice indoor pool. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved it and will absolutely look to stay at this Westin again.
