Visited Patuxent River Naval Air Museum on a recent trip to this area of Maryland. Was very impressed by the exhibits and aircraft in this museum. The Docent was much appreciated, sharing his extensive knowledge of the aircraft, as well as his experiences serving in the Navy. The gift shop is well-stocked with items for all ages and levels of interest. Parking is easy. Staff all welcoming, and friendly. Highly recommend you visit this museum
if in the Lexington Park area of Maryland.

Decently sized aviation museum, really cool to be able to walk around the lot out back with all the planes & helicopters, and get up close to them. Some unique exhibits specific to this Air Station that you probably won't see at one of the larger national museums.

This museum is a tremendous asset to St. Mary's County and pays fitting tribute to the work the men and women of the Navy, Federal Government, and contractors do and have done for Naval Aviation over the past 75+years. They are always renovating and adding new exhibits to the multiple buildings, and the flightline of 20+ naval aircraft is amazing. The museum store is one of the best around, and the St. Mary's County Visitor Center on site is a wonderful asset to the site. Plus, the authentic flight simulators are a blast! Don't miss it when in St. Mary's County.

Thank you for the great feedback! We do work hard to refresh displays and create new exhibits... several new galleries will be opening within the coming year. Hope you'll come check those out too.

I have toured The Smithsonian's Air and Space at least 3 times and this museum, though smaller by quite a bit had things that Air and Space did not have. There was a number of planes used in the Veitnam and Gulf wars there as well.

Lots of planes for guys to enjoy. Nice to sit in helicopters for photo ops. Indoor and outdoor exhibits. Planes you won’t see at Udvar-Hazy or Dover Airlift museums. Worth the trip.
