If you didn't live in the area you probably wouldn't know about this nice restaurant, although I'm sure it's frequented by DoD contractors visiting the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. The ambience is perfect for fine dining and the wine list is very nice. The portions are a nice size and everything is fresh. The kitchen is open so you see what's cooking. The service was professional and the server could tell you anything you wanted to know about what was in the dish to recommending a wine to compliment the meal. My personal favorites are the escargot appettizer, chicken chesapeake entree, and creme brulee dessert. Oh, did I mention there is a great martini bar and happy hour? You wouldn't expect a restaurant of this caliber in Southern MD. It's a little tough to find if you are not from the area but well worth it. Nice bar with a great martini menu. Food is delicious with a nice wine selection. Great for special occasions. Dress is dressy/casual.

We arrived in Piney Point on a Tuesday ... after Labor Day, so many of the places were operating on a Weds-Sunday basis due to lack of tourism. Luckily the Tides was open. The meal was very good and we were glad to find someplace we could have a nice seafood dinner when every place else was closed.

Wonderful crab cakes and great (strong!) cocktails. I always get good service here. It's a bit on the nice side and very good for a business dinner, but they've treated me well even when I've come in alone.

I found the menu items way too pricey for what you get and the food wasn't that appetizing. Have only been there once and have no plans to return.
