“Would not stay here again”
Reviewed July 26, 2010

A little hard to find, our GPS saved us. The room was fine but there was no ice machine and the vending machines items were limited. Shuttle van was Ok but crowded. Stopped running at 9PM so we had to take a cab to the hotel on Friday night and found police cars in front of the hotel. Lobby was crowded and noisy. Seems to be a party place. It was quiet on our floor (5th) but the maintaince people left ladders and tools around. Breakfast was OK but not great.

Since we came with a rental car and was going to visit Washington D.C, we decided to park the car outside the city. We found Best Western on the road, and went inside to ask for a room. We met a nice lady behind the desk. We got a nice room for a nice price. The breakfast was bad though, swetty bagels and muffins. A plus, they had a wafflemachine where we could make our own hot waffles. We stayed there two nights for a reasonable price, but we only slept there. To get to the Metro station New Carrolton, it took us 10 minutes in our car. Note: There is a parking fee, you pay 4 dollars for the entire day, and you pay when you leave the parking lot.

Everything about this hotel was great. The staff was personable, professional, helpful, and eager to make our stay wonderful. The rooms were clean and spacious. The very nice lady Josephine Boney who is the head cook/manager of the breakfast was so friendly. We got to breakfast late due to sleeping and she welcomed us with open arms and cooked us
eggs because there were hardly any left. Very accommodating both her and the entire staff. The free shuttle to the metro that they offer was helpful when we took the train into Washington DC. Very happy and was sad to leave this hotel. The lobby was very nice and the pool was clean.

We made a reservation at this hotel early one morning, we showed up early and asked if there was any way to check in early, we were told ,ABSOLUTELY NOT, we were full last night and no rooms are clean yet. o.k. so we went to d.c. for the day and on our way back we got lost, so i called and was put on hold for 15 minutes with no answer, so i hung up and later called back to ask if our reservation was o.k. and to ask for some direction on how to get there, well he told me he was TOO BUSY and to call back in one hour. What ? So we found the place on our own and got the room key, which did not work on the door, they explained it was locked from the inside and knocked on the adjoining room to try to go in from that side that did not work so after we waited a bit two guys came up to try to open the door, i asked if they had any other rooms and was told yes, but he never tried to find us one, they just continued to try to open the door, i asked again about another room, and was told yes again but never did they try to get us one. My wife had enough and she went to the front desk and explained how she felt and canceled the reservation, we then left and found the Sheraton two blocks away and finally got some sleep. Do not go here if you do not want to be taken for a ride,or lied to.
We had stayed at a best western in King of Prussia, Philadephia area the night before and did not find one thing out of the ordinary with this hotel, the staff was so helpful we felt like real people and were not treated like idiots

This establishment is disreputable and lies to your face. We came for a National History Day competition my son was in. When my wife researched the room, she told them why we were coming and that we'd use the Metro. They said they were 4.5 miles from the University of Maryland and that the metro station was across the street. The metro station is 1.5 miles away and the metro does go to UMD with an hour ride. We were led to believe that the hotel was conveniently located. It is not close to anything and it is not convenient for tourism in DC. As a result, the metro costs us much more than we planned. The shuttle service is always late and actually neglected to pick us up at the metro after we called and left us there an hour in the sweltering heat. Another time, we walked and it took us 30 minutes. Another time we were waiting at the hotel for a shuttle and when they were late, my wife went to ask about it and the desk clerk acted like he was calling the driver but never pressed the button on the walkie-talkie. 5 minutes later the desk clerk drove us to the Metro. They actually have no drivers! the desk clerks and the maintenance guys drive. We reserved a rollaway bed and when we arrived, we were told the rollaway beds were not guaranteed. One night my daughter slept on the floor for two nights we asked for another pillow and they never gave one to us. I could go on and on. Do not book a room here. We had to stay because we booked the room through an internet site and if we left for another hotel we'd lose our money, which we couldn't afford to do. We got the room "cheap." I guess you get what you pay for.

I got the suite on the last week of may. I'm supposed to stay there for 4 nights but I couldn't stay for more than a night. The Hotel condition is bad and I couldn't believe it belong to best western chain Hotels.
I will recommend other hotels with the same price that have different and higher levels of comfort and cleanness for the rooms and better hotel conditions.

We wanted to stay here but the shuttle does not accomodate people with disabilities who need to use an electric wheelchair or scooter. We're very disappointed. The hotel says they do have a roll in shower and shower chair. It could have been nice.
