Holiday Inn Express Washington DC - BW Parkway
Ranked #2 of 2 Hotels in Hyattsville
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Just returned from 4 nights at the Hyattsville HIE - and for the money (less than $500 for 4 nights) it was perfect for our family of 4's trip to DC.

Here is what I liked
Free Breakfast - It was good - regular easy to make buffet stuff - eggs, sausage, pancakes, cereal, muffins, cinnamon rolls etc. Easy way to start your day and the food was good. Not blow your mind fantastic - but better than an egg mcmuffin, and a whole lot cheaper.

Free Parking
Room had Refreigerator and Microwave

Room was on the small side but well kept, and clean

Small bathroom - really can fit only 1 person at a time.

Short ride to Metro stop - you are a 5 minute car ride to the New Carrlton Metro Stop - on the Orange line). Parking at the metro is 4.50, and prices vary for the metro into the City. Approximately a 25 minute Metro Ride to Smithsonian Stop - 27 Minutes to Metro Center.

Front Dest was quick for both check out and in. Had room keys ready upon arrival.

Hotel is less than 1 mile off of the B/W Espressway.

Restaurants nearby are limited - Mc'D's, KFC, BK - the usuals - as well as Wal Mart Across the street. Restaurants like Outback, Applebees, Ruby Tuesday's etc are within a 10-15 drive.

Hotel does offer Metro shuttle - but we dod not use it (though it was offered)

No great view - but when you are touring DC - we really only needed our room to sleep - so that was no big deal.

Rooms were quiet - elevators quick - maid service made our room look brand new daily - excellent job.

I have no complaints about our stay. I would certainly consider this property again in the future - the only drawback for my family is that there is no pool (inside or out).

Room Tip: We had room #319 - which is directly across from the elevator

We had a great stay, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the room was very nice and clean. It was very close to downtown sites. The complimentary breakfast was good with a great selection of items.

This hotel was very convenient for those wanting to visit Washington DC, without the exorbitant DC hotel rates. Friendly staff, very comfortable and clean accommodations, great breakfast, and hassle-free check in/check out. Sure wish they had an indoor pool though (which would have resulted in an excellent rating). Otherwise, everything else was great. Yep, I'd go back to this hotel...it's a keeper.

Good price, reasonable place. Happy with the free wifi. Not too thrilled about the breakfast- pancakes taste a little "off", but its better than paying for breakfast elsewhere. The room isn't huge, but its fine for my 2 kids and I. It's reasonably clean and quiet. My biggest complaint is that the shuttle has room for 5-7 people and only goes to the Metro once an hour, on the hour. At spring break, lots ofpeople use the Metro and it seems like more trips should be made. If you're not lucky enough to sign up first, you might have to pay $12-15 for a taxi to get to the Metro. I will say, I think the shuttle driver is excellent though. Very prompt and friendly!! also, no one mentions that the T18 bus stop is just outside the front gate to the left. It brings you to the Metro if there's not room on the shuttle, so I was appreciative to figure that out. Lastly, others said the neighborhood was sketchy, and but it seems fine to me. Not a high class area, but not terrible either.

Hello Anne B,

We appreciate all of your feedback after your stay with us, especially in regards to the added bonus of a bus in front of the hotel. We now have a larger hotel shuttle that can seat up to 15 people at a time with space for your luggage. We do hope to see you return in the future! I will also pass on your warm compliments to our shuttle driver.

The location is convenient (near the loop), the staff was really kind and helpful, the rooms are comfortable, the windows not really noise proof, and the rate was good. The breakfast was standard (bacon, scrambled eggs, pan sausage, Bagels, muffins, bananas, apples, good coffee), and could be taken away.

The day after I cancelled our downtown DC hotel reservation, our Congressman came through with White House tour tickets and everything (reasonably priced) was booked. So, I was thrilled to find this Holiday Inn at an appealing rate. I am wary of hotel shuttle services and their reliability, so we rented a car, but this turned out not to be necessary at all.

The lobby area is spotless, comfortable, and welcoming (with two PCs and a printer for guests, along with an area for coffee, with creamers which we appreciated). Check-in was friendly and efficient. Having to use a key to operate the elevator always makes us feel more secure (knowing no one other than guests can access the upper floors).

We found the location to be extremely convenient (right off the BW Parkway and only a short drive from the New Carrollton station - for Amtrak, MARC, and Metro). The neighborhood was just fine with everything you could possibly want/need nearby. (We were thrilled to find Ledo’s Pizza!)

Our room was spacious and comfortable. Everything seemed brand new, with meticulous housekeeping. TV Channel reference handy for 42" flat screen TV. There were two outlets right in the lamp on the desk (one for laptop, other for charging phones). Linens were plentiful (and snow white) with plenty of plush pillows and towels. Lots of hangers in closet. Excellent climate control. Air Conditioning was so powerful, we ultimately switched to Fan Only (mid September).

Service throughout our stay was extraordinary. Shuttle service was convenient and always very prompt with a courteous driver.

My only quibble is that, while there was plenty of room for board and iron, the lamp or bedside clock had to be unplugged to plug in the iron. (Tip: Fill steam iron with the coffee pot.)

We really enjoyed our stay and appreciated the helpfulness and cheerfulness of the entire staff (especially Chrissy at the front desk).

We stayed there for 7 nights and it was very pleasant. Location was decent. Rooms were decent. Service was decent. Breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, pan sausage (bacon on Saturday), mini biscuits, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, bagels, assorted cereals, assorted juices and milks. They provided transportation to the New Carollton Metro Station and would also pick you up. Overall it was a very decent place to stay and would stay there again.
