This place is amazing - so clean and a great staff. Normally I stay at the Courtyard Marriott in Hunt Valley but since the full service Marriott across the street lost their Marriott status people have switched there, so much that when I tried to book last week the rate for Tuesday was 169.00 and Wednesday was.......$599.00. I am all for a company trying to capitalize on another property closing and getting their business but $599.00 for a Courtyard is just price gouging. Back to the Residence Inn - rooms are HUGE - clean and comfortable. Flat Screens in each room - free breakfast and dinner and most of all a great value.

Room Tip: For the business traveler - free WiFi and wired internet access; ask for rooms in the 23 Block - much quieter as its away from the light rail

Most often, when you stay at a hotel it's for vacation, business or visiting family. You check in and check out and where you stay becomes a distant memory. But when you need a home away from home, a place to live day to day, you need a hotel that understands what it feels like to suddenly be "homeless". This was the case in the dead of winter when we were forced from our home for an undetermined time. We needed a place for two adults, two dogs and an "at home" business. Residence Inn by Marriott in Hunt Valley Maryland became our home. And thank God our paths crossed.

We had never stayed at a Residence Inn, so our expectations were guided by our past hotel experiences. After a few days, it became evident that the staff understood the difference between a hotel and a residence. From front desk management, to maintenance, house keeping to food service there was an extra dimension to how they interact and care for their "residents”.

I should mention that our stay here was 155 days, so the amount of kindness, service and care exceeds our ability to remember each occasion that made us think "they just get it".

A few examples might explain how amazing Residence Inn people are. Our dogs were welcomed like family and were cared for by staff above and beyond our expectations. John Kielb, the maintenance Supervisor adopted our dogs, walking them when needed, making sure they had fresh water on the back porch and providing a weekend doggie vacation in his home to free us up - at least once a month. When Cooper broke his bowl in a feeding frenzy, the next morning, at 6:30 AM, the bowl was repaired, cleaned and waiting with fresh water. John and his staff go the distance to help in any way they can, When I asked for a desk chair that was higher, minutes later, John wheeled one into our room for a swap. When John returned from a vacation in Alaska, he brought our dogs Alaskan dog collars as a present. Who does that? John does.

From the first day, General Manager, Eli Adams became our passport to whatever we needed. His professionalism matched with his daily check in to be sure we had everything we needed, was both welcome and rare. I honestly can't recount all the kind things that Eli did to make our stay more than a place to sleep. On my birthday, Eli and his staff tricked me into coming to the front desk for a delivery -- only to find the entire staff assembled for a surprise birthday party. A cake, present and handwritten card were so thoughtful during a rather stressful time. Somehow, they knew it was the right thing to do that day -- so they just made it happen.

Housekeeping never failed to spruce up the suite each day with a smile, kind words for the dogs and special touches they knew would make it feel more like home. Without compromise, our suite was spotless every day. and occasionally, a new dog toy or treat was left anonymously for Maggie and Cooper. When Cooper decided to use a houseplant as a toy, Jonathan from housekeeping told me not to worry and returned our room to perfect condition -- keeping Cooper out of the dog house. The entire building is spotless, under the direction of Samantha and Mirna, including the laundry area, pool and workout center. Even the pet area was manicured and a welcome place for our dogs.

One thing that is truly different from home is the fresh cooked hot breakfast every morning, headed by Olga, Beatriz and Dilma. A welcoming smile and greeting were always served with the best eggs and buffet you could ever hope for in the morning. Regardless of the size of the crowd, Olga would remember what we liked and the two bottles of water for my wife before her workout. Dinner was always a welcome sight in the evening and again Olga was there with her "morning smile".

It would be easy to go on, but I do want to thank those that help to keep the place running at peak performance, From assistant manager Chris Bello, Sales and Meeting Coordinators Ronni and Krystal and the front desk associates Kody, Olga, Caitlyn, Pete, Loredana, and Christine. The folks that managed evenings and overnight; Sebastian, Martin, Oscar, Leo and Robert were always there if we needed anything after hours.

As we wind down to our last day at the Residence, it is with sadness that we leave all of these wonderful people. They have become our family and our friends. It was no surprise to us that "our” Residence Inn Marriott Hunt Valley was awarded the Best in the Chain this year and that Eli Adams was named Manager of the Year. They truly have set the standard for all others in the chain and for surrounding hotels to raise the bar. We are proud of their accomplishments and will continue to recommend our "home away from home" to friends. We are fortunate that we live close to Hunt Valley so we can visit and bring the dogs by for treats and to talk with friends.

A sincere thank you to everyone on the team. Each person made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We will miss the warm smiles, the evening conversations and the hospitality that you have shown our family. You're simply the best!!!

Room Tip: First floor rooms are great for pets. Keeps you close to the gym, laundry and breakfast. Rooms on the rear side has a nice nature view of countryside, including morning deer. Very pleasant.

We were in town last weekend for a lacrosse tournament. Eli and his staff could not have been anymore helpful. With power outages all over and extreme heat conditions, we relied on the staff of the RI for advice more than a few times! We were in a one bedroom - room 215. No view (air ducts), but given the office complex-like setting, there really wouldn't be a view anyway. Room was clean. We did have to hunt down shampoo twice - the vials are the absolute smallest I have ever seen. Great stay.

Everything was perfect for our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hot breakfast was outstanding with delicious (and obviously fresh) eggs, canadian bacon, sausage, waffles, hot & cold cereal, etc. There was a shuttle to take you within a 3 mile radius of the hotel. We will absolutely be back.

This hotel was a room block for a local wedding and it was a great hotel. The rooms were clean and really nice. I didnt realize they were going to be suites so that was a great surprise. They also had a shuttle that took us back and forth from the wedding about 5-10 minutes away. Great Hotel.
