“Ok, if it were 1990--not really on par for 2012”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

My husband, teenage son, and I stayed here for one night on our way north, so I should begin by making it clear that this hotel and Hagerstown were not a destination for us. My comments, therefore, have little bearing on location or convenience of the hotel, which might make things look somewhat different to others. Indeed, for us, coming off I-81, this was kind of far into town and a little creepy to drive to late at night.

We got this hotel via a last-minute Priceline bid for a 2-1/2 star property and paid about $75 for one night. What we got was, I suppose, decently reasonable for that cost--room was spacious and we slept quite comfortably. But if you like the clean, updated interiors of, say, a Hampton Inn, you are not getting that here. This is clearly a couple of steps down. Again, if you're ok with that, fine, but don't expect something as nice/new/updated as Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express.

The room, for instance, has a "popcorn" surface on the walls (yes, the walls, not just the ceiling), and it's apparent that this surface is basically "shedding" all the time, as the carpets had white dust all around the walls. The hallways had an off smell, and the bedding was very basic--none of those fluffy duvets and pillowtop mattresses that you get at those other hotels. And the bathroom (which did, very nicely, include two sinks, one inside and one outside--good feature when traveling with kids) had one of those roaring exhaust fans that runs any time you turn the (rather dim) lights on.

Breakfast in the morning was pretty bleh: heavy on carbs, with few healthy options--no fruit, protein, or anything like that. Again, not horrible, but just not notable in any way.

I did peek out at the pool as we were leaving, and it's very large and looked clean and quite nice. There are events spaces at this hotel that I imagine could make for an attractive event, maybe milling and mingling around the pool area. But we weren't there for that.

Bottom line: if it were 1990, and I were still in grad school, this would be ok. But, for 2012, there are much nicer places in this general price range. It was just kind of a letdown and did not have the more luxurious feel that even modest-range hotels (like those mentioned above) now have.

Travelled through Hagerstown on the way to Gettysburg. The lady that checked me in was great! The room was clean, the bed and linens smelled fresh. Great value....if I am ever in the area again, I would definitely stay here.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. Giving us information about the surrounding area and what to do. The pool/spa were wonderful and refreshing especially after a long day at Gettysburg. It was also convenient 30 minute drive to Antietam Battlefield, which is one of the reasons we chose this hotel. Good price for the area and room. The room was very clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was well stocked and with an average variety of choices.

I was in town for the "Bike Fest" and Motorcycle races at the Hagerstown speedway. It was a full house, and still there was ample parking designated motorcycle only, as well as a large car lot. It was very warm that weekend(100 degrees).
The room was clean, bathroom size was adequate, a/c was quiet and did what it should on a 100 degree day, bed was comfortable and plenty of pillows, coffee maker, hair dryer, ironing board etc...The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms were very clean.

we stayed here for four nites and went away satiafied. Upon arrival the place seems older but it doesnt take long to see everything is being updated and it is nice. The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms were very clean. They did not put a lot of linens in the room but all u had to do was ask for extra and they were happy to help. The beds were very comfortable.
The breakfast had the regular continental stuff but also had microwave burritos, croisant and bagel sandwiches. The staff checked the breakfast room regularly.
We spent a lot of time in the lobby with friends hanging out and they didnt seem to mind.
The down side was the pool closed at 9pm(just when it was cooling off enough to be outside). And the halls had a funny smell.
I will definately stay here again.

visit was for motorcycle races at Hagerstown, full house there was ample parking designated motorcycle only, as well as a large car lot.. room was clean, bathroom size was adequate, a/c was quiet and did what it should on a 100 degree day, bed was comfortable and plenty of pillows, coffee maker, hair dryer, ironing board.. in room fridge was plenty cold..basic cable on older TV..pool was comfortable temp on a 100 degree day, but the umbrellas at the tables could use some help and the towels were a bit rough.. elevators were quick and dependable being a 5 story building both ran all hours..staff was very friendly and polite, easy to deal with and eager to offer information, directions, answer questions..at registration the offered up services from the property as well as in the surrounding area, before being asked. .working class visitors, families would be very comfortable here..there was also a coin operated wash and dryer on my floor but no snack vend just soda/water/juice machine(also reasonably priced)

Room Tip: corner suite quieter than hallway near elevator (chimes on arrival and doors opening closing)
