The Maryland Theatre is the focal point of Hagerstown's Arts & Entertainment district. It's the home of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and also hosts a wide variety of musical programs, comedy and other shows (web site gives details). The building is a treat in itself, a magnificent example of historic theatres with gold leaf decor, boxes and a fine balcony -- all good seats and fine accoustics. Parking is easy nearby and some good restaurants are right across or down the street.

I've been to both TNA Wrestling shows there. Intimate setting for the crowd makes you feel part of the action! Place has a snack bar & sells alcoholic beverages! Great for wrestling action!

This historic venue is a great way to spend an evening out. The Maryland Symphony Orchestra performs during the season with Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon performances. There are often special guests. The small venue is more intimate, and has been operating since 1915. There are box seats on the upper and lower levels. The theatre scene in "Guarding Tess" starring Shirley MacLaine and Nicholas Cage was filmed here. During summer months they offer a "Wind Down Friday" concert outside on the plaza. Local bands entertain while a sample from a local restaurant is offered for a donation of $5. From comedians like Ron White and Carrot Top, to well know singers like the American Idol contestants and Englebert Humperdink, the shows have enough variety to please everyone. There is a parking garage, along with restaurants nearby for an evening experience you will remember. Over the years I have seen Jazz artists, Comedians, and the Maryland Symphony. Always an enjoyable evening. The bar offers a limited choice and can get crowded during intermission.
