Not sure what has happened but this place is not as good as it once was. Food quality needs improvement and the plays have not been as interesting as they used to be. We plan to give them a try again but are hoping we find an improvement.

We saw THE CHURCH OF DIMINISHING MARGINAL RETURNS last weekend, and we all found it laugh out loud funny. Took my wife and her parents and everyone enjoyed it. Really nice to see a new comedy that's fresh, clean, moves along at a good clip, and has some serious moments, too. This was our first trip to the Washington County Playhouse. We decided to make reservations because we had seen another show ELVIS OF NAZARETH by playwright Jay Huling, and it was hysterical. CHURCH is just as good. Plus, since this is a dinner theatre, we were able to enjoy the entire evening at one place. Dinner was very good, too, and they had some excellent drink specials going on the night we were there. Not sure if they always do that. But the actors were great, and they all had great timing. What was really nice was, after dinner, you get to move to another seat if you'd like. This way we could have the view we want and still be together and be comfortable. They were pretty full the night we were there, and the audience all seemed to enjoy the play. Lots of laughs in it and the actors do a good job of letting the audience soak it all in. Hagerstown is a little bit of drive from Baltimore, but we're glad we made the trip and will do so again.

I have attended several shows here now and I have enjoyed each and everyone, the actors are usually superb, the shows selections usually terrific, and the food delicious. It can be a bit pricy, but for a show and dinner it's really not a bad deal. I saw Harvey (fantastic), all actors especially "Elwood", Vita Louise" and Dr. Sanderson were fantastic! Nurse Kelly and Dr. Chumly were quite good as well. The food was scrumptious too. Then I went to see "Funny Girl" what a show, what a voice the lady singing Fanny's part has. WOW! Loved Nick Arnstein too. Just terrific, food, again, yummy. Next show was The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie, another wonderful show and again food was delicious. I am planning on attending this evening to see an original play, looking forward to it. Seth Thompson and Amie Tweit are in it and they are both great actors. Looking for a fun time? Take a chance on the playhouse!!

We saw the "Liquored Up" musical review they offer and were underwhelmed. It seemed inappropriate for the holiday season. At times it was cute, but we were disappointed that a happy traditional musical wasn't being offered. The staff was friendly enough, but we were stuck in a corner with a bad view of the low stage. Food was plentiful but unimpressive. They are offering season tickets for sale without telling us what we would be seeing! The audience was small. It is a little scary to leave after the show and go into the dark alley and parking lot. We all agreed to try something else next time.

My husband and i have seen 4 shows this year and are looking forward to the 2013 season. This playhouse has found some of the best talented actors, singers and overall staff that make every production the very best. The food has improved very much since previous visits. We feel like it's a family affair each time we attend. The small theater makes it intimate and you get to know the performers because they wait your table. Everyone is so talented I hate to see them also taking care of my needs, especially after they have sang their heart out or made me laugh like crazy at their performances. If I were to choose my favorite for this year it would be "FUNNY GIRL", with a close second for Liquored-Up Lucille's Pops Bonanaz.
