Food has always been very good. Appetizers of scallops and edamame was a wow dish. Great flavors. The tuna foie gras was good not great. Main course flank steak was excellent. Cooked perfectly as was the duck. Recommend both. Finally dessert. The chocolate peanut utter tort was a wow dish. A deconstructed snickers bar. The chocolate ganache was also a wow but the accompanying ice cream had ice crystals. Bar service was very good with a great selection of wines by the glass and home made lemon cello in various flavors, try the strawberry. Service was friendly if a little inattentive.

We never had a good restaurant in the area until Bistro Blanc opened up. Now we don't need to drive to Frederick, Baltimore or Washington to get a fabulous wine selection, terrific cocktails, or high end appetizers and entrees at moderate prices. The exterior looks nondescript in an unexciting strip mall near a rural traffic circle, but the cozy interior decor makes you feel like you've gotten away to a small Parisian wine cellar. The menu is upscale and interesting, and everything we've had there has been tasty and worth ordering, and we've eaten here at least ten times. The bar is tiny but a great place for a quiet (and delicious) cocktail before eating, and since the dining room is often busy, we have eaten dinner once at the bar, and it was a pleasant experience, too. The bartender and wait staff are always professional and congenial. Pay for a wine tasting electronic card and try their automated wine dispenser to taste any of over twenty wines. Try a little taste of some really expensive wines, but then a full glass of a really good but not so expensive wine. It's fun! Our 12 and 15 year old sons always find something they like on the menu if we bring them along, but this is really a romantic place for a couple and nice for two or three couples to socialize. Our only fear is that they will become so popular we can't get a table when we want!

This is a wonderful find for foodies in the middle of residential Howard County, Maryland. Its in a strip shopping area and not sovisible from the road but worht the effort to find it. We have gone twice- once forlunch and once for dinner. THe food s creative and the quality excellent. THe portion size is appropriate-- filling without being overwhelming. THe wine selection is very good although we have not tried the wine tastings since we have gone with folks not so interested in tastings. Be prepared to be patient-- when they are busy the service is slow and the staff get distracted (they forgot to pur wine from a bottle we ordered until flagged repeatedly!)
Overall, great place for the patient!

Most places I like I would say "the food is good." Here, its truly about fine cuisine, served in a casual style. Mushroom flatbread, scallops, crab bisque, are just some of the dishes we've enjoyed. They also have a wine-tasting system which suits us well, to sample many differnt types of wine without paying for an entire glass.

Bistro Blanc is a bit off the beaten path in western Howard County, but boy is it worth it. Will be replacing Iron Bridge Wine Company as my new favorite for small plates and wine. Very cozy chic atmosphere, wine bottles wall to wall. Our server Sarah was friendly and energetic, gave great recommendations. We did visit at the end of the shift so perhaps it was a little quiet which meant very personalized service. It was "ladies night" wednesday so I received a free cocktail, nice surprise! First let me say-- the scallops are to DIE for. so scrumptious. Mediterranean platter, rockfish and ribs were all fantastic as well. Portions are a bit small, but prices are still reasonable. It was the first time we didn't have food to wrap up. But we were filled up enough not to need dessert.

So glad to have Bistro Blanc in our neck of the woods!
