The Homestead Studios Germantown are the teensiest little extended stay type rooms I've ever experienced! I feel like I'm living in a Barbie Doll House or in MunchkinLand (without the singing). I think if there were more than one person staying in this room it would really put one's relationship to the test.

The rooms are rather cute, tho, in the way that miniature things are, and sound doesn't seem to carry too much. The room is clean enough, even though dining utensils were put away dirty and cabinet veneers are peeling here and there. The rooms are all external entrances so if you are on the second floor you will be dragging your stuff up flights of stairs. The high speed wireless is only $4.00 for the entire stay but the best signal I could get was low so I'll be asking for my money back on that.

The first room I was assigned to was a bottom floor unit under the stairs with the window looking out directly onto the full garbage cans about 3 feet away. If that were not hideous enough, the room smelled as if it had been smoked in for years and then sprayed down heavily with a toxic room freshener to mask the pervasive reek and give some credence to it being labelled a non smoking room (even though there were ashtrays) When I asked to be moved, the front desk said SORRY! but they were completely booked and this was the only room left- I think this was because I booked thru Hotwire ($56 a night) and therefore was prepaid and could not back out of my reservation. My husband called the hotel on his cellphone and asked if there any rooms available, and of course there were, and fortunately he was able to shame them into giving me another room (they explained they had suddenly gotten a cancellation in the 5 minutes since I had asked in person to be moved).

So, all's well that ends well- I got a non-reeking room with a non-garbage view and I'm fairly content in MunchkinLand.
