I spent this past weekend at Rocky Gap (it was my birthday!) I've never been there before, but was pleasantly surprised. The resort is small and manageable, clean, the casino is segregated from the rest of the building, so you don't need to be exposed to it unless you want to. The lake is wonderful, and with the State Park there, there is plenty of opportunity for outdoor activities.
We biked the lake trail, stopped at the park rangers station and meet some turtles and snakes, visited the small beach (which was quite busy!) and golfed the course there twice. The golf course is in VERY good shape, and pace of play was enjoyable and the views were spectacular. The spa massage was lovely, and packaged with a pedicure was a very good deal!
The rooms were spacious and clean. The entertainment outside the sports bar on the patio in the evenings was relaxing and pleasant (acoustic guitarists for the most part). We ate in the sports bar, and only visited the larger restaurant for breakfast on Sunday, which was very good with made to order omelettes and waffles. Since the resort building is the only thing there, it's a quiet getaway - just the birds, and the happy noises from the beach (and a little traffic noise from Route 68!)
I am looking forward to another relaxing weekend trip here someday!!
