As a longtime resident of Catonsville (right up the road), I used to visit this place often...a little too often. Parking in Old Ellicott City can be a challenge, and when the opportunity to move to Old Ellicott City presented itself, I did so. While there were certainly other reasons, Bean Hollow was a big factor. It's that good. I find myself there at least two to three times per week.
The coffee is local and freshly roasted. They are somewhat famous for their monthly coffee specials, incorporating the holidays of the month into delicious caffeinated concoctions. The sandwiches and wraps are quite good as well (definitely try the turkey club on toasted sun dried tomato), and the soups are delicious (when they're available...they tend to run out quickly). In the summer months, the Berger cookie ice cream is unbeatable.
It's a very small place, so sometimes finding a place to sit is a challenge. Also, there's no Wifi either, which is unusual for a coffee shop. I like it, because it prevents some people from just sitting aimlessly all day hogging tables, but I suppose some people consider this a factor. But if you're looking for delicious local coffee, Bean Hollow is the best option.
