“Best Sushi Lunch Buffet in Baltimore”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

Lunch, Great! Dinner- read someone else's review...

Niko Japanese Restaurant is a Korean owned Sushi restaurant that churns out an excellent lunch buffet.

As an employee of a Japanese company with numerous trips to Japan, I know my Sushi. Traditional Japanese sushi, while very high in quality, is very blase' for most Round-eyes.

Niko is a great place to satisfy your Sushi Joneses! Plenty of food, high quality, extremely large variety, raw, cooked, vegetarian maki. There rolls are very creative and include your basic missionary rolls and the exotic rolls with all sorts of sauces, like a dragon roll, dynamite roll, all the designer stuff. They also include small pieces nigiri sushi for the traditionalist that are easy to pop into your mouth.

Included in the buffet is a small hot food bar with bulgogi, pot stickers, chicken wings, tempura vegtables and a tiny salad bar. Oddly enough, there is not a big spread of Kimchi, which I love.

I can see the 4 meatballs ratings but based upon the $12.95 price, it rates a 5 with me!

More Wasabi!!!

“hidden gem”

This is a good restaurant. What I love about Niko is that the food is tasty, the prices are good, the staff is friendly, and it has a very nice atmosphere.

It's not an extremely fancy place, the style is more mid-level and is perfect for an enjoyable relaxing night out. Recommended highly!

“All-U-Can-Eat Sushi”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2008

Great sushi for the price. I don't like seaweed so I'm limited on choices but I am very satisfied with the three negiri style sushies. I do cheatr a little and eat the tempora crabcake roll. Very unusual but very good! Great local twist on a v ery popular type of ethnic food...very creative. Chicken teriyaki and tempora onions on the non-sushi bar are also very good. Reasons for not giving the highest rating...The food on the non-sushi bar is not kept warm. If you don't get it right when it comes out, it'll probably be cold. ANother thing I think they need to work on is refrigerating the sushi side. The trays of sushi are sitting out without any kind of refrigeration. Luckily the place is always packed so the turnover of the trays are constant. Also, the AYCE sushi is only available at lunchtime (11:30 to 2:30) and I think it's only on weekdays.

I highly recommend Niko's

“Great luncheon buffet”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2007

If you like Japanese food and/or sushi, this is the best luncheon buffet for the price. For $10.95 you get unlimited sushi with at least 10, possibly more, varieties of sushi lined up at their sushi bar. There is also a good assortment of other Japanese dishes ranging from miso soup, salads, tempura, chicken teriyaki, etcetera for those who are not comfortable with eating sushi. Weekend prices are slightly higher. Their buffet sushi tends to be on the small side... all the better to try all the varieties plus the other tempting dishes. Dinners offer a good variety of dishes as well as sushi. The atmosphere is relaxed with consistently good service,

This restaurant is sitting quietly in Normandy Shopping Center at: 8450 Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City.
