We walked portions of the park in autumn and took photos. The park is clean and quite large. There were many different trails to walk and interesting waterfalls and scenery. There is actually a working railroad that runs through the park and you can find some history there regarding the railroad.

Its beautiful. Any state park would be, really. The trails aren't as well marked as I would like, and we almost got shot by a deer hunter, but other than that it was a good experience. Wear bright colors.

Can be a little busy, but still it's a great park. Lots of hiking. Not many facilities, but it's a park. Beautiful in every season.

Patapsco (River) State Park stretches Howard through Baltimore counties and has a variety of trails from meadows and cliffs at Meckeldin in the west to the river side paths in Avolon to the east. You have to look at the Map to appreciate the variety. Mountain bike, dog, an shores friendly with Handicap access to fishing. We also enjoy snow shoeing at Mckeldin when we get a foot of snow or so. I have enjoyed Patapsco for 15 years and still look forward to the next hike or walk with the dog. bring $2.00 per person for the park entry fee which when the gates are not attended, collected on the honor system. It's a great place for camping, especially if you live around this area. I had a great time with my kids...
