“A class above”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2014

This was the nicest restaurant we tried on the Eastern shore. The ambiance is exceptional. We had our own table in a screened in porch area. food was inventive using freshest ingredients. Lots of seasonal items like pea shoots, fiddle head ferns, fava beans, nasturtium flowers. One of the dishes, a fish with a most heavenly broth concocted from lardons, saffron, was exceptional. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. service was exceptional. Desserts were great too, tried lemon curd with berries.

“VERY Disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2014

We made a reservation at Bartlett Pear based on Washingtonian Magazine's review and had high expectations. We had an 8:15 pm reservation, and arrived at 7:45. Our table wasn't ready, which was fine, so we sat in the bar and had a cocktail. The bartender was the best part of the evening; entertaining to watch and the drinks were delicious. At 8:30, we found the hostess to ask about our table, and she had clearly forgotten about us. We were sat in the corner and it was a good 10-15 minutes before our waiter stopped at our table. We ordered a bottle of wine, and that took another 20-30 minutes. Ordered the chef's tasting menu, and again waited about 20-30 minutes between each course. First two dishes were good (salad and soup), but the next two were almost unbearably salty. Fish was overcooked, and I had to drink an entire glass of water after having the truffle risotto (which costs $38 for the entree, avoid - you can't even taste the truffles!). Dessert was mediocre, and we didn't leave until nearly 11pm. I understand that fine dining is an experience, not a marathon, but this was a little ridiculous. Definitely won't go out of my way to go back again, unless it's just for drinks. I would rate it as 'terrible', but the bartender bumps it up to 'poor'. Not sure why this place is rated so high.

“Great Birthday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

Our favorite spot in Easton. Great place to celebrate a special occasion. We have always done the tasting menu with wines. Have never been disappointed!:) Small place but great service and awesome food. This rivals many more prestigious and expensive locations in the DC area.

“I have Never Written a Second Review Before”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2014

I must do so for the Bartlett Pear in Easton. Service and thoughtfulness are vital to a restaurant experience. Here, the wait staff was wonderful. My best friend and our spouses were there for two of our birthdays. Apparently, my spouse had mentioned this in the confirmation call. We were greeted with a nice note signed by the managers and staff ... charming! My sweetbreads appetizer (please agree that "sweetbreads" is a singular noun, albeit one ending in 's'" was unusual and proclaimed the best on the table. My wife had sepia (not the color .... look it up.) which was, again, unusual and delicate. Further courses were less surprising, but no less appealing. I finally had the often-praised risotto, while others ordered lamb chops, scallops and a fine slice of ham ! The pear hard cider proved to be a memorable selection as well.

We were in post-prandial bliss when our server brought us birthday boys ... chocolate souffle! (That makes more than one exclamation point for this piece; I have violated my rule.) The souffle was a fine ending to a worthy meal.

Truth to tell, I write with some trepidation as I surely do not want to have to fight for a table in the future. But I can hardly do less when presented with such an appreciated effort.

“Fun birthday dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2014

We tried the chef's 5-course dinner selection (nothing that wasn't on the menu) with wine pairings. Overall the food was very good -- the risotto was the best course! -- and a couple of the wine pairings really shone, especially the Malbec from Washington State. It was wonderful fun to have a surprise chocolate souffle with candle along with our other 2 desserts to share. The staff were almost too solicitous, though. By the end of the meal we were thanked and re-thanked so many times that it almost made us feel as if they weren't accustomed to getting positive comments from diners. Surely that's not the case. Stayed in the Inn, so we had a chance to meet the chef/owner and his wife the next morning. Both were delightful.
