My family of four just returned from a fantastic & bucolic experience at the MRGH. We spent the first half of the week as a family (with two young children, ages 3 and 6 months) and shared the second half of our getaway with another family of friends who had one baby, 9 months. We couldn't stop raving about just how perfect our stay was.
Even before we arrived Will's service exceeded our expectations as he was extremely accommodating. He answered every question I had, both by email and phone. He confirmed our breakfast requests two weeks prior to our arrival and even inquired how I was making out on finding a boat rental. During our stay Will responded to all questions and requests within minutes. He quickly responded to our requests for fresh pool towels, more breakfast food, chicken necks & lines for crabbing and crab knives, to name a few. We couldn't have been more thrilled with the quality of service we received during our stay.
Upon arrival, we were thrilled to find our refrigerator and fruit bowl fully stocked with gorgeous strawberries, blueberries, bananas, blackberries, freshly squeezed orange juice, eggs & bacon. Will even provided our specifically requested whole wheat bread, pastries and my husband's favorite granola. He quickly gave us the "grand tour" and then left us to explore.
The MRGH consists of three bedrooms, perfect for a family with older children or two families with younger ones. Our friends found the first floor accommodations (one room with a King, another next door with a Queen and a very large bathroom with tub) very comfortable. Both bedrooms looked out onto the Miles River. My family stayed in the master suite with en suite bathroom on the second floor which was spacious and also very comfortable. There was no shortage of towels and Will even provided some toiletries. All of the rooms met my cleanliness standards which is not an easy task.
The open concept living area is also ideal - we spent much of our time chatting in the living room, enjoying a meal at the dining table which seated all of us comfortably or cooking in the kitchen which overlooks the living room. Our 3 year old loved the game machine & the juke box provided a great ambience for plenty of small dance parties. Huge floor to ceiling sliding glass doors provided a gorgeous view of the Miles River.
We spent the rest of our time at the MRGH splashing in the pool (the sunset swim we took on our first night there was unforgettable!), picking crabs on the expansive patio while watching the sunset, boating, fishing & catching crabs off the dock and strolling around the beautiful farm, complete with horses & ponies. St. Michaels is a mere 15 minute drive and we loved window shopping, getting ice cream and grabbing lunch there. There are a couple of strip malls nearby with stores such as Target & the Food Lion. As far as convenience goes, the MRGH has it all.
We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful location or better owners to work with. We left our vacation severely disappointed that we couldn't just stay for the rest of Summer but excited to plan a return visit!
