“Outside eating under autumn coloured trees with the sound of a fountain”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2013

Cumberland md is a quiet place with some lovely houses and churches.
City light is located in a traffic free zone, there are only a few shops but the little restaurant is worth to visit this part of cumberland. Reasonable pricing and good lunchmenue. The food was OK, not perfect (soup to salty), but the location makes up for it! Service was good, with a friendly waitress.

“An unexpected gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013

I am difficult to please and almost impossible to impress; the dinner we had here was superb. We were staying in Cumberland only because it was a convenient stop on the way to somewhere else and knew nothing about local restaurants. We found this place by accident and it was the culinary highlight of the whole trip (well, other than the same-day-picked corn on the cob we had in some otherwise godforsaken rathole in southwestern Virginia, but that's another story.) The food was creatively imagined and perfectly prepared. The staff were knowledgable, attentive and charming. The wine list was not lengthy, but was well-chosen and suited the food well. I had the pork tenderloin which was (mirabile dictu) not overdone. The accompanying mustard sauce was assertive enough to be interesting but not so overpowering as to obscure the excellent meat. My wife had the Greek salad and a crab cake, both of which were exemplary. The management here clearly cares - they fly in artisanal cheeses from Wisconsin; we had three of them with a delicious port for desert. Please eat here whenever you can - we need places and people like this.

“Outside”

We sat outside to eat. Lovely weather. I had the handbreaded chicken breast with spicy mayo, pickle and coleslaw. Delicious! Would go again!

“Nice little sidewalk cafe style eatery”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

The weather was nice enough in Cumberland to sit outside at City Lights. After a long day at work, my coworkers and I were looking for a place with good food and a pleasant atmosphere. City Lights had both. It's a lovely setting outside in the courtyard area. The food was good and everyone enjoyed their meal. This is not fine dining but it is a good casual restaurant with a unique twist. They offer their lunch menu at dinner on certain nights of the week. That was the best part. Prices were reasonable and there was a steady stream of customers.

“Were the Cooks out for the Evening?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

This restaurant is located on the pedestrian mall area. I ordered the special of the day "polenta with seafood" and my spouse ordered the salmon dinner. The "lobster sauce" over the polenta was soooo thick that it "killed" all taste and the seafood was only 4 shrimps. The salmon was grilled very well done and had more of a charcoal taste. Garlic potatoes were god. Wine portions were very generous. When I received the check for the meal, I was shock that the polenta was $26.00 - not worth the goo over the cornmeal.
