“Worth the wait”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2013

No reservation at 7pm on a Saturday night and a 15 minute wait. I think that is a good sign of things to come. And it was! The fresh bread and olive oil were a great start. Our entrees were pasta Bolognese and chicken Parmigiana. Both excellent. Highly recomended

“Who would have thought”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2013

Ottaviani could be the best Italian restaurant at which we have eaten outside of Italy. First to start the bread ... was crisp outside and the sort of chewy hard to make doughy inside. Really good. When we were finished and had one piece left we were about to put in in our box, when our waitress asked if we wanted some more! Yes the answer. Then came the calamari with a sauce to die for. Next Caesar salad with couple of anchovies on the top (server asked first if we wanted them). Wife's Abruzzo Chicken was like noneever she had had before... over spinach & mushrooms sautéed in balsamic vinegar, and with gorganzola cheese and pasta. I don't know how they could get the chicken hot like I like it but still very moist inside. Anyway too bad this place is couple hour drive. We would go here as the prime destination if it were just a little closer to DC.

“MOLTO BENE ITALIAN”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2013

Had dinner with my wife based upon the reviews on Tripadvisor and, as usual, they were spot on. Arrived on time for our 7PM reservations on a Saturday night and our table in the rear loft overlooking the expansive length of the restaurant was the only empty table in the entire restaurant. A good sign. We started off with the calamari and the homemade tomato-based sauce that came with it was beyond delicious. Of course, the fresh bread and herb-infused olive oil brought first was quite good. Next, we split the very large salad-fresh and tasty. Our main course were the pasta Bolognese and the ravioli. Again, the home made sauces were beyond good. The portions were huge (you might want to consider the available half portions for each entrée). Along with a bottle of Papale Primitivo (excellent) the total bill came to $85 before tip. All in all, a most enjoyable, better than expected fine Italian-dining experience. MOLTO BENE!!

“Extremely good, but ...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2013

I ate dinner here with my wife. We came back after being away from Cumberland for 3 years. We had eaten here before and made a special trip to have the dinner.

Our waitress, the lovely Gina, was excellent. She shined throughout the meal.

From bread and olive oil, to the spumoni, the dinner was delicious. The only fly in the ointment was my "cioppino"; which wasn't cioppino. Cioppino is a seafood stew made with crab, etc. in a spicy tomato-flavored fish broth. This was mixed seafood in a white sauce, not even close. Yes, it was tasty and I ate the whole thing, but it wasn't what I expected and should not be referred to as cioppino.

The wine was delicious, my wife's sausage and peppers was outstanding, and the salads were very good. I would come back and have the osso bucco, but not the cioppino.

“WOW!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2013

Excellent food, excellent service, great atmosphere! This was our first time dining at Ristorante Ottaviani and we were favorably impressed with everything. My wife ordered Chicken Parmesan and it was too much to eat. The chicken breasts were tender and moist, the homemade linguini and marinara sauce were perfect. My Bolognese was the best I've had this side of Bologna, Italy. Who would have thought that Italian cuisine this good would be found in little ole Cumberland?
This is the place to go, in Cumberland, for an evening out or that special occasion . . . like an anniversary dinner (our reason for going). We will be back!
We highly recommend Ristorante Ottaviani to locals and visitors.
