My husband and I went to the casino there. It was pretty cool. The views were simply amazing. Very romantic!

“Great State Park”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

You are sure to enjoy this state park with lots to keep you busy. We were there for the weekend and wish we had longer to stay. We hiked a couple of the easy trails. We rented Kayaks and went out on the lake. This is very reasonably priced by the way. They have fishing poles you can rent from the nature center if you forgot your own and get your deposit back when you return it undamaged. There is a nature center, aviary, casino, several snack bars, a campstore, several beach areas, lots of trails and a huge lake. They have canoe and kayak rentals as well. Each of the staff members I came in contact with were very helpful and if they didn't know the answer to a question they knew who to call to get the answer. We hope to go back again soon and check out more as we didn't have enough time to explore the park and all of the trails.

“Rocky Gap State Park”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

We arrived at the park around 5pm. The check-in was quick and painless. Be aware that cash is needed to purchase firewood. A code for the front gate is needed to enter the park. We were in the Ash loop that has electric and allowed us to bring our dog on a leash. Many sites in our loop had dogs and the barking was limited to a few brief moments of noise. Our site was level and the fire pit was located the perfect distance away from the site so smoke didn't blow back into our camper. Water and bathrooms were only 2 sites away from ours. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well maintained. They also had a separate family bathroom for those who have small children or are handicapped. The lake had a beach and surrounding areas were very nice with a few seating areas with some shade. The lake is stocked with fish however we weren't the only ones having trouble catching any of them. There are also canoes for rental. We especially like the Lake Loop Hiking trail which is 4.5 miles around the lake and was perfect for the family and our smaller dog, elevation was minimal. My boys especially enjoyed the activities in the park. They were able to see different owls in the aviary and watch the park staff feed them. They were also able to go into the nature center and help feed themselves turtles and snakes. Overall, this is an excellent state park.

“Pretty place with lake and hiking trails”
Reviewed July 27, 2013 via mobile

I came with my three brothers for a "mancation" and the four of us stayed in the lodge. We did some walking and found nice trails. The lakeside trail was close to the lake allowing views of water and some wildlife: like swimming beavers near beaver lodges and trees they had damaged and interesting birds. We did not attempt the full circuit or the other difficult trails. We did take the Canyon View Loop. We saw a snake skin and hope it wasn't from the copperhead another traveler saw sunning itself at the view point. We didn't bother with the beach though it was busy. We saw a group of white robed people go into the lake so perhaps we saw a baptism. Interesting place for an Oregonian to visit.

“Great long weekend getaway”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Stayed in the tents at campgroung from 07/03 to 07/07/2013 (Elm loop, site 120) with 2 kids 6 and 14 year old. Everyone has a lot of fun. Lake's water was crystal clean and extremely warm. There were activities for the kids during a day everyday, and some show for everybody at night.
It was great to cook on open fire and sleep on open air. We hiked, fished, swimmed and just had fun from being away from the city.
The facilities were nice and clean. Staff was helpfull. Did not have any problems.
Great long weekend getaway.
