From Kayaking to the beach, to sitting under the pines in the breeze, we had another great visit to Janes Island. The staff is always friendly and knowledgable and the fishing and kayaking was great fun. No water or sewer hookups, but that is not a problem for us for an extended weekend stay.

We came to the state park for ParkQuest 2012. We had a great time canoeing and hiking for the ParkQuest activity. There is a campground and when we get a camper this will be on our list of places to camp. It looked really great. Doesn't appear to be a pool, but if it's just a weekend, that would be okay. The park rangers were really helpful as were the staff at the park store. Definately coming back!

We stayed in a mini-cabin. It was very basic but did have A/C and I noted a heater for the cooler seasons. In front of the cabins are BBQ and a fire ring. Due to the dryness there was a burning ban but you could still use charcoal to cook a meal. About 30 yards from the front of the cabin is the waterway and it is a beautiful sight. You can see the salt marsh across the way and watch many birds come and go. I'm an early riser and about 5 a.m. I watched the crabbing boats head out. The crew will give you a friendly wave if you wave at them. They do not create much noise so it will not wake those asleep. They also have a very nice boat launch and floating launches to get canoes and kayaks in and out with no fear of tipping them over.
Some of the water trails are very shallow and it's really neat to see the crabs and fish swim by within arms reach. The waterway is quite calm and easy to navigate. There is a beach area that can only be reached by boat.
There are also a few trails that you can either bike or hike- either way they are easy enough even for the novice.
It's a good idea to bring a pair of binoculars as there is a lot of wild wild life to view.
There is also a nice playground, if you have little ones.
Another nice thing about this park is being small it is very quiet and relaxing. We stayed over the July 4 holiday and it was peaceful.
How could I forget...The washrooms/showers were CLEAN, stocked with toilet paper and the showers had great water pressure and there was HOT water, but not hot enough that you have to worry that you would get scalded.
The store filled your basic needs and all the staff was always ready to help.
Would I go again. The answer to that is yes! If you have a tent, camper or r.v. you can probably go with little notice. For a mini cabin a few weeks notice will usually do. but if you want the larger cabin {kitchen, bath, etc} you need to plan well ahead.
Lastly -have a large group- there is a huge cabin that sleeps up to 16 I believe.
Again a great little get-a-way at a great price.

lots to do crabbing, fishing, kayak or canoeing. We camped at the park it was very quiet and peaceful. Camping rates are very cheap and the store is convenient for anything you forgot to pack. They rent canoes and kayaks or you can rent a motor boat from crisfield boat rentals. Call crisfield boat rentals to reserve the boat you want. Beach was great but you must get there by boat.
