On check-in, our innkeeper Troella told us that she had just returned from the hospital and we noticed an Ace wrap on one hand and arm.

We had made our reservation a month in advance. We certainly would have preferred to have been notified of this personal situation, so that we could have made alternate lodging arrangements. This Inn is run only by the owner and it was quite apparent that she was not able to make breakfast, do the housekeeping, etc. Reluctantly, we stayed in a dusty room with old toothpaste in the bathroom sink.
When asked why she had not called us so that we could make other arrangements, she said "I need the money."

We opted to have breakfast in a local restaurant because we were not uncomfortable with our cook having a wounded and wrapped hand.

A bottle of wine was given to us on check-out. Troella seems like a lovely person. It is unfortunate that an unwise decision was made to host guests at a time of personal health crisis. Although we understood her plight, it is not appropriate to solicit sympathy from paying guests.

This is written so that others can make an informed decision, as lodging in Crisfield is scarce.

We wish Troella well and hope she gives herself a chance to heal and get stronger before compromising other guests.

What makes this little Inn a great find is the Inn Keeper Troella Tyznik. From the minute you arrive you feel like you just arrived at a long lost relatives house. Troella is engaging respectful and as nice as the day is long. She is full of helpful hints for dining in Crisfield and has wonderful stories to tell. The rooms are efficient, thus 4 stars versus 5 stars. The best part is the breakfast. Troella is truly a gourmet chef with a healthy flair. He breakfast was gluten free and spectacular. Our breakfast consisted of gluten free waffles made from all homade ingredients and fresh fruit, crab omlet, vegtable burger, applewood bacon, freshly made sausage, fresh fruit and a quiche. Yes she made all of those dishes for our breakfast!!

She starts cooking for her guests at 4AM. No idea where she gets her energy. Strongly recommend when visiting the Southern Eastern Shore.

We stayed here two nights recently and really enjoyed our visit. Truella, the innkeeper is a character; warm, welcoming and an excellent cook. The house expansive and eclectically furnished. The location is very convenient to all that Crisfield has to offer.
If you find yourself in this area, I would highly recommend a stay.

We are finishing a three-night stay as we travel to Smith and Tangier Islands during the day. We are so comfortable resting here after our trips. Everything the previous posters said is true about the hostess, the food, and the comfortable rooms.

First, the B&B and its rooms are squeaky clean. Very comfortable rooms, though, as in most repurposed Victorians, the en suite accommodations are laughably small (part of the charm). Second, Troella, the owner, is unbelievably welcoming and pleasant, plus she is an incredible cook. The variety and sheer volume of breakfast treats that she served us was amazing. Each tasted better than last. Crisfield itself has its limitations, but if you are planning a trip to the area, don't miss Troella's cooking.
