From the moment you enter you are greeted by great staff with a mind to service. The tables are not crunched together but comfortable. The steaks are fork tender. The quality of food is beyond believe compared to the price. Highly recommend.

We tried the Longhorn years ago when it first opened. We expected it to be on par with Outback. We found the food was so overly spiced with pepper and salt that I did not finish my meal. We also found that the prices were significantly higher, and the portions smaller than Outback. We were not impressed. We waited a year before we went back. We figured that the restaurant would have corrected it's issues in that year. We were wrong. The food was overly spiced and overly priced. We decided to not go back.

Well, we were out last week running errands, it was dinner time, and my family wanted steak. We were in the vicinity of Longhorn, and decided to stop and try it again. It had been at least 4-5 years since we visited last. We should have kept going. My hamburger ($10) was supposed to be done to a medium finish; which according to their menu means that it should have been pink through out. There was no pink in that burger. It was well done, dried out and so small that I had to literally cut off half the bun to find the burger. Needless to say, the burger was too salty. My husband's steak was so spiced with pepper that he had to drink water several times just to eat it. By the way, we told the waitress that we did not want our food overly spiced, and hadn't visited the restaurant in many years because of the heavy handed spicing of our food in previous visits.

The waitress did offer to exchange my hamburger, but my family was almost done their meal and I just wanted to get out of there. The noise level was high, and I wanted to get home to fix a gallon of water for me to drink to get over the saltiness. I really don't understand chefs who think that food needs to be overly spiced. Spices should enhance, not overwhelm a dish. The only reasons I can see for over spicing food is to cover up poor quality of food, or poor cooking skills.

In conclusion, we will never again go to Longhorn.

I wasn't blown away by this place, but it's not horrible either. The food is pretty decent and the service is average. I doubt I'd return, especially with so many other great places to eat in Columbia.
