“A Suburban Maryland Classic...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

My Dad was celebrating his 90th birthday and chose VGB for the family gathering. They treated a large group very well, the food was excellent and timed well considering the diverse orders. I am very fond of their beer selection and I always have the crab cake. However, the chef does some interesting dishes that are above traditional pub fare. The Lobster Mac and Cheese is lots of fun and the Poutine appetizer is a great extension of their classic Duck Fries. Busy place, make sure you get reservations.

“Beer and Burger & way more”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We hgave been going since the opeing of Victoria. The food is well beyond the traditional pub fare, as "Gastro Pub" implies. The beer and burger experience is taken to a whole new level. The Black Angus burger and something like 17 pages of beer menu turn your average burger and beer meal into a transcendent experience. If nothing else order the Poutine, an indilgent, artery clogging taste extravaganza of duck fat fried, hand cut potatoes, gravy, melted cheese, and duck confit. The entrees offer a wider selection of very good food as well. If you haven't managed to fill up long before dinner is over (did I mention the pre-dinner biscuits - a must!), then taste bud delight awaits with the dessert. Mary's Gone Bananas is a version of Bananas Foster that should not be missed, but the traditional English Trifle will also reward.``

“Best burger around”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

I've been here a number of times and I've always had consistently good food. Next to Bourbon Steak in DC, this is the best burger in the area. I never get the hype over duck fat fries, and they are lost on me here too. The smoked paprika fries are very good on their own. The menu is a bit limited and the lobster grilled cheese is a bust. Stick to the beers and burger.

“Best beer choice and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013 via mobile

I have visited a few times and love the atmosphere here. I would highly recommend trying the Lobster Grilled Cheese with Bacon with any if the many beers in their selection.

“Pub/Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

went on a Wednesday night. Had been prior to this about a year before. We started with the stuffed mushrooms and a cheese tray. My husband had the grilled cheese, I had a mushroom/swiss burger... both slightly above average. We sat in the bar which was very lively. The owner sat next to us and seem to make her rounds and was pleasant. The bar area appears to be quite a hang out of sorts for locals. I'd go back.
